John McCain–A Candidate too Far Left

Posted on January 31, 2008. Filed under: Blogroll, Economics, Immigration, Links, Politics, Quotations, Rants, Raves, Resources, Taxes, Video, War |

I have been a member of the American conservative movement since Barry Goldwater ran for President in 1964.

I consider myself a classical liberal or libertarian like the late Milton Friedman and Friedrich Hayek but I am comfortable with traditional conservatives as represented by the late Russell Kirk.

In the last five decades there has only been one elected Republican President that I consider to be a conservative– the late Ronald Reagan.

My first choice in the 2008 Presidential election was former Speaker Newt Gingrich, who decided not to run.

My second choice was Congressman Duncan Hunter–who never got traction and dropped out.

My third choice was former Senator Fred Thompson–who also dropped out.

My fourth choice is now former Governor Mitt Romney.

I could even vote for former Governor Mike Huckabee, since he supports the FairTax and finally got it right about illegal immigration, which are my two top hot button issues.

I will never vote with the pump and dump drive by media candidates who are betting on the COME–Clinton, Obama, McCain, and Edwards.

Senator McCain for at least fifteen years was both a conservative and Republican that I would have supported and voted for.

Unfortunately in recent years Senator McCain decided that in order to run for President that he had to move to the left and stroke the liberal mainstream media.

While Senator McCain would be better than both Senators Clinton and Obama, I simply no longer consider him a conservative and do not trust him.

I do not associate, do business with or vote for people I do not trust.

The latest example of John McCain’s lying liberal ways about illegal immigration:

 Update: A “non-paid volunteer”

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 25, 2008 10:03 AM

“…Now, incredibly, Juan Hernandez is GOP presidential candidate John McCain’s Hispanic Outreach Director. He is, as my Nevada reader wrote, a sovereignty-undermining extremist who “whose views and interests are so clearly anti-security and not in the interest of the American people or for that matter us legal Hispanic immigrants.”

John McCain made the mistake of forgetting to dance with the one who brought him or elected him to the Senate.

I will not vote for Senator McCain should he become the Republican candidate for President of the United States.

While the Republican elite establishment and many neoconservatives are supporting Senator John McCain, they are courting defeat and a revolt on the right.

The time is fast approaching when the members of the conservative movement should seriously consider starting a new political party–call it the American Citizens Alliance Party (ACAP)–uniting the traditional/social conservatives, the libertartian/economic conservatives, and the national defense/security conservatives.

Such an alliance would be unbeatable with a candidate that is a principled and consistent conservative.

The United States has had a conservative President for only eight years out of the last forty-four years.

There is no Reagan conservative still running for President of the United States.

I am very tired of voting for the lesser of two evils–which is still evil.

No more Rockerfeller and Bush (R&B) Republicans, aka the country club Republicans.

John McCain is the candidate too far left for me and tens of millions of conservatives.

Waiting for Straight Talk

“…In 2004, one of John McCain’s closest associates, John Weaver, spoke to John Kerry about the possibility of McCain running as Kerry’s vice presidential running mate. In “No Excuses,” Bob Shrum’s memoir of his role in numerous presidential campaigns, including Kerry’s, Shrum writes that Weaver assured Kerry that “McCain was serious about the possibility of teaming up with him,” and Kerry approached McCain. He, however, was more serious about seeking the 2008 Republican nomination.

John McCain: The Geraldo Rivera Republican
By Michelle Malkin

“…Not all of us have forgotten how the short-fused Arizona senator cursed good-faith opponents in his own party (“F**k you!” and “Chickensh*t” were the choice words he had for Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn during a spat over enforcement provisions). Not all of us have forgotten that he voted against barring felons from receiving amnesty benefits under his plan. Not all of us have forgotten the underhanded, debate-sabotaging manner in which McCain/Kennedy/Lindsey Graham/Harry Reid conspired to ram their package down voters’ throats.

His admission of the shamnesty failure is grudging and bitter. While he now tells conservative voters what they want to hear about the need to build the southern border fence, he takes a contemptuous tone toward physical barriers when talking to businessmen. “By the way, I think the fence is least effective,” he told executives in Milwaukee, according to a recent Vanity Fair profile. “But I’ll build the goddamned fence if they want it.” Straight talk? Try hate talk. …”

 McCain Advisor: “Think Mexico First”
By Kevin McCullough

“…Border Patrol agents confirmed to me in private briefings in 2006 that since January 2003 their agents had detained more than 800 persons of middle-eastern origin on the southern border attempting to enter the country illegally. Of those in more than 60 cases, U.S. Authorities had confirmed ties to an array of international terrorist organizations.

September 11th was carried out by one-third as many persons – and THAT was in 2006.

By McCain even allowing the presence of Juan Hernandez within his campaign organization’s ranks, he confirms the worst that many had feared. John McCain, the arrogant maverick, who opposed the Bush tax cuts, who restricted our freedom of speech with his anti-first-amendment legislation “McCain-Feingold”, who sought to undermine the justices being nominated by President George W. Bush, and who served up arrogance and stiffed-neck hostility towards the American people on one of the most worrisome issues of our times – instead of humility and a desire to ensure border security, is a candidate who does not deserve the support of patriotic Americans. Dr. Hernandez’s presence, advice, and influence on John McCain demonstrates just how out of touch the Senator still is. …”

The Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal

“For more than forty years, Russell Kirk was in the thick of the intellectual controversies of his time. He is the author of some thirty-two books, hundreds of periodical essays, and many short stories. Both Time and Newsweek have described him as one of America’s leading thinkers, and The New York Times acknowledged the scale of his influence when in 1998 it wrote that Kirk’s 1953 book The Conservative Mind “gave American conservatives an identity and a genealogy and catalyzed the postwar movement. …”

  The legacy of Russel Kirk
by David Frum

“…Instead, Kirk throughout his life insisted upon the six “canons” of conservative thought he first identified in The Conservative Mind: Belief that a divine intent rules society as well as conscience. … Affection for the proliferating variety and mystery of traditional life. … Conviction that civilized society requires orders and classes. … Persuasion that property and freedom are inseparably connected. … Faith in prescription. … Tradition and sound prejudice provide checks upon man’s anarchic impulse. … Recognition that change and reform are not identical, and that innovation is a devouring conflagration more often than it is a torch of progress. … “

Our Captain, Kirk – Russell Kirk

“…In The Conservative Mind, Kirk — who contributed a regular column to NR for 25 years and was described by Buckley as “this terribly mature, polished, knowledgeable student of American and European history” — outlined the principles and key figures in the Anglo-American tradition “from Burke to Santayana” (the book’s subtitle, changed in later editions to “from Burke to Eliot”). In doing so, he gave the modern conservative movement its pedigree and much of its definition. …”

Russell Kirk on Immigration

By W. Wesley McDonald

“…But the pro-open borders immigration ideologues, whom he described as “animated by envy and hatred,” also advocated what Kirk denounced as ‘the fraud of multiculturalism.”

“Detesting the achievements of Anglo-American culture, they propose to substitute for real history and real literature—and even for real natural science—an invented myth that all good came out of Africa and Asia (chiefly Africa).”

If they should succeed, Kirk gloomily predicted, American culture would “end in heartache—and in anarchy.”

By 1992, Pat Buchanan had apparently convinced Kirk that the nature of immigration had radically changed. The new immigrants were not expected to assimilate into the existing inherited America culture. Instead, they threatened the very existence of the civilization and its achievements Kirk had fought his entire life to preserve.

Today, I am confident that Kirk would not be an enthusiast for the pro-immigration views advanced by Whitney. Instead, he would be joining forces with those on the other side—such as John Attarian, Paul Gottfried, Sam Francis and Peter Brimelow. ”

 43rd’s Tribute to the 40th
President Bush gives tribute to the Reagan legacy.

By Gleaves Whitney

“…The genius of Reagan was to unite several different conservative schools of thought and forge them into a political movement. Historian George Nash has written of how the major strands of post-World-War conservatism came about. In the 1950s, there were traditionalists, capitalists, and anti-Communists. (1) Traditionalists were the classical conservatives led by Richard Weaver and Russell Kirk; they looked back to Edmund Burke, John Adams, and John Henry Newman for inspiration; many were Roman Catholic or Episcopalian. (2) Capitalists were the classical liberals led by Friedrich Hayek and Milton Friedman; their inspiration could be found in Adam Smith, John Stuart Mill, and the Enlightenment; many were members of the Mont Pelerin Society. (3) Anti-Communists found a voice in Whittaker Chambers and discovered a pit bull in Wisconsin Senator Joseph McCarthy. …”

“…Reagan’s great achievement was carried out in the political arena: He pulled together those who were inspired by classical conservatism and those who were inspired by classical liberalism. And make no mistake: The act of political fusion went hand-in-glove with attempts at intellectual fusion. For example, one of the founders of the postwar conservative movement, Russell Kirk, a traditionalist inspired by Burke, increasingly accommodated himself to Adam Smith. Before his career was over, Kirk would even write an economics textbook. Another conservative pioneer, Frank Meyer, self-consciously adopted the “fusionist” label because of his attempts to reconcile freedom and order. …”

The Kennedy Clinton Democratic Party Civil War Over Obama–Happy Days Are Here Again!

The Kennedy clan apparently were not very happy with the Clintons playing the race card against the Democratic candidate, Barry Obama.

While it might be perfectly OK for Democrats to use the race card against Republican candidates, it was not OK to use the race card against Democratic candidates especially a black man running for President of the United States.

Nor did they appreciate the Clintons trying to polarize the Democratic electorate with whites, hispanics and unmarried woman going for Hillary Clinton and blacks, married woman and men going to Barry Obama.

Blacks overwhelmingly vote the Democratic Party ticket and were supporting Obama big time in South Carolina.

When the Clintons continued to bring up race, the Kennedy clan had enough.

The Clintons made a fundamental mistake and forgot about the words of Robert Kennedy:

It appears that a lot of Democrats as well as the American people are sick and tired of the Clintons and their attack strategy of getting nominated and elected.

With the Kennedy clan endorsement and committment to campaign for Barry Obama, a full scale battle royal has erupted in the Democratic Party–Kennedy/Obama vs Clintons vs. American People.

A President Like My Father

“OVER the years, I’ve been deeply moved by the people who’ve told me they wished they could feel inspired and hopeful about America the way people did when my father was president. This sense is even more profound today. That is why I am supporting a presidential candidate in the Democratic primaries, Barack Obama.

My reasons are patriotic, political and personal, and the three are intertwined. All my life, people have told me that my father changed their lives, that they got involved in public service or politics because he asked them to. And the generation he inspired has passed that spirit on to its children. I meet young people who were born long after John F. Kennedy was president, yet who ask me how to live out his ideals. …”

The Clintons attack campaign strategy of digging up dirty on candidates and their opponents apparently reminds the Kennedy clan of the late FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.

While opposition research has its place, when it crosses the line and borders on blackmail, it brings up many bad memories that many Democrats would like to forget.

While former President Clinton apparently heard the words of Senator Kennedy, it remains to be seen whether he will heed them.

Happy Days Are Here Again for the Republicans.

Actually what is really going on is a very clever attempt to let black voters go to Barry Obama in the primaries and come back home to Hillary Clinton in the general election.

It will work only if Senator Obama is on the ticket as the Vice-President candidate.

Should Senator Hillary Clinton decide on either Governor Richardson or General Wesley Clark as her Vice-President candidate, black turnout becomes a real problem for the Democrats.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Hillary’s Stumble Could Be Great News for GOP

“…For starters, Obama is much too young and inexperienced, with no real (or even hyped) achievements to his name.  Unlike essentially every successful presidential candidate since 1900, he has no meaningful executive experience, whether in government, business, or the military.  Indeed, as countless commentators have noted, the only reason Obama is being taken seriously is because of his race.  (Although Obama has a white mother and a black father, he is considered, by himself and others, as “black.”  Except, of course, for the ultra-liberal commentators who preposterously question whether he is “black enough.”)  And the black vote already goes 90 percent for the Democrats, so Obama is unlikely to attract many new voters among this demographic.

True, white liberals and the mainstream media in general love the idea of a black presidential candidate.  At least a liberal one.  They especially love to talk in terms of “racial healing” and “overcoming America’s legacy of racism.”  However, the rest of the country is not so enamored with the idea of electing a president for no other reason than the color of his skin.  And, quite frankly, there are many voters who, everything else being equal (or not), are less likely to vote for a black candidate than for a white candidate.  Which means that Obama’s lack of any meaningful qualifications, besides his race, makes his candidacy an even greater long shot. …”

 Run, Obama, Run!
Winning by losing.By Charles Krauthammer

“…These are strong reasons for Obama to run. Nonetheless, he will not win. The reason is 9/11. The country will simply not elect a novice in wartime.

During our last great war, the Cold War, no foreign-policy novice won the presidency, except for Carter in the anomalous Watergate election of 1976. The only foreign policy novices elected in the last half-century — Bill Clinton and George W. Bush — won the presidency during our holiday from history between the fall of the Soviet Union and 9/11.

In any circumstance, it is fairly audacious for any freshman senator to even think of the presidency. When freshman Sen. John F. Kennedy began his preparation for 1956, he was really seeking the vice presidency. And, unlike Obama, he had already served three terms in the House, which in turn had followed a celebrated military tour in the Pacific in World War II.

In 1956, Kennedy was preparing for a serious presidential run in 1960. …”

Opposition Research

Opposition research (often referred to as oppo) is the section of an election campaign designed to investigate the life, record and current status of the opposing candidate.

Opposition research differs immensely depending on the size of the campaign. A local election sometimes has a staff member dedicated to reading through all of the public opponents statements and their voting record.

A state-wide or national campaign will often have many dozens of workers doing opposition research scanning through vast amounts of information, searching through judicial records, all public statements, youthful writings. These may also include conducting interviews with people who knew the candidate, and (ideally) verifying or at least corroborating the information.

Genuine opposition research done correctly means obtaining information only from legal sources.

In recent years the task of opposition research has been privatized in many areas. Full time companies with a permanent staff have replaced volunteers and campaign officials. …”

 McCain’s last-minute attack about Iraq

“…On the weekend before the Florida Republican primary, John McCain attacked Mitt Romney on Iraq, bringing one of McCain’s signature issues back to the forefront of the campaign.

“Now, one of my opponents wanted to set a date for withdrawal that would have meant disaster,” McCain said.

Later, in remarks to reporters, McCain linked Romney’s position with that of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

“If we surrender and wave a white flag, like Senator Clinton wants to do, and withdraw, as Governor Romney wanted to do, then there will be chaos, genocide, and the cost of American blood and treasure would be dramatically higher,” McCain said.

(We previously examined McCain’s “white flag” attack on Hillary Clinton here.)

Romney immediately disputed the accuracy of McCain’s remarks.

“That’s dishonest, to say that I have a specific date. That’s simply wrong,” Romney said. “That is not the case. I’ve never said that. …”

 Dishonor on the Campaign Trail

“…On Saturday afternoon, the McCain campaign issued the following statement: “Mitt Romney’s position on the war in Iraq has been a study in flexibility. Like every other issue of importance in this race, Mitt Romney has changed his position. On April 3, 2007 he advocated secret timetables for withdrawal from Iraq. His exact words were ‘of course you have to work together to create timetables and milestones.’ In October 2007, Romney said that Hillary Clinton, who supports Iraq withdrawal, is ‘not going to be demanding a dramatically different course in Iraq than the Republican nominee will.’ These statements, along with Romney’s inability to stick with a consistent position, provide further evidence that he lacks the critical experience and judgment necessary to lead as commander in chief.”

“It was a dishonest line of attack. During an April TV interview — as anyone who clicked on a link that was provided to me by the McCain campaign can see for themselves — Mitt Romney said that of course there have to be some agreed-upon benchmarks for progress (including, yes, timetables) between the U.S. and Iraq, at least privately. John McCain himself had been suggesting something even more official, but along the same lines, in January of the same year. …”

 McCain’s Dishonest Attack

“…As I’ve said before, McCain deserves a large part of the credit for the surge—he pushed to have it implemented both in his public advocacy and his behind-the-scenes lobbying of the Bush administration, and he has been its foremost defender. Romney wasn’t as enthusiastic about it and in his body language, if nothing else seemed ready to distance himself from it if it failed. This is a perfectly legitimate issue for McCain to raise, and he has, by saying things like Romney was “looking at his shoes” while he was putting it all on the line for the surge. But that doesn’t justify the rank dishonesty of his attack on Romney over the weekend. It’s so shamelessly unfair, it’s the kind of thing you’d expect of Bill Clinton attacking Barack Obama. Clearly, McCain wants to change the topic from the economy. And since he’s suffering from his “straight-talk” about his relative lack of knowledge of and interest in the economy, he’s trying to compensate with the opposite of straight talk—blatant distortions—about Romney’s record. …”

Fla., McCain and Romney Argue About Iraq

“…Stumping in Fort Myers on Saturday, McCain went on the attack first, linking Romney with Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.): “If we surrender and wave a white flag, like Senator Clinton wants to do, and withdraw, as Governor Romney wanted to do, then there will be chaos, genocide, and the cost of American blood and treasure would be dramatically higher.”

He added to reporters that “one of my opponents wanted to set a date for withdrawal that would have meant disaster.”

Romney, who said in April that the military should consider a “private timetable” but not public deadlines, shot back: “That’s dishonest, to say that I have a specific date. That’s simply wrong. . . . I know he’s trying desperately to change the topic from the economy and trying to get back to Iraq, but to say something that’s not accurate is simply wrong, and he knows better.”

Later, Romney added that McCain’s comment on Iraq is “simply wrong and it’s dishonest, and he should apologize. …”

I will be voting for Mitt Romney both in the primary and general election.

I will never vote with the pump and dump drive by media who are betting on the COME candidates–Clinton, Obama, McCain, or Edwards.

See you at the polls.

McCain, Romney spar over war

“Mitt Romney’s a war-quitter who would let Al Qaeda win in Iraq. John McCain is being ”dishonest” and shifting the campaign’s focus because he can’t win on the economy.

The two Republican frontrunners slung those accusations at each other in unusually stark terms Saturday, as the too-close-to-call presidential race in Florida grew more rancorous heading into Tuesday’s election.

Neither man would back off nor apologize. McCain stayed on the attack all day and, though he exaggerated Romney’s statements about withdrawing from the war, he succeeded in putting his opponent on the defensive. …”

Romney tries to focus on economy as he works for a win in Florida

“…Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, lashed top rival John McCain for admitting less familiarity with the economy than foreign affairs, telling an earsplitting rally outside Miami: “No one needs to give me a briefing on the economy. I won’t need to choose a vice president that understands the economy — because I know the economy.”

A day after McCain accused him of supporting a timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq, Romney also told a reporter McCain was “lying” before catching himself and saying, “I’m saying he made a dishonest comment. I misspoke.”

McCain defended himself at a town hall meeting in Polk City when a questioner challenged the Arizona senator’s votes in 2001 and 2003 against Bush administration tax cuts. McCain now says those tax cuts should be made permanent. …”

‘STRAIGHT TALK’ EXPRESS TAKES SCENIC ROUTE TO TRUTH

January 23, 2008–Ann Coulter

“John McCain is Bob Dole minus the charm, conservatism and youth. Like McCain, pollsters assured us that Dole was the most “electable” Republican. Unlike McCain, Dole didn’t lie all the time while claiming to engage in Straight Talk.Of course, I might lie constantly too, if I were seeking the Republican presidential nomination after enthusiastically promoting amnesty for illegal aliens, Social Security credit for illegal aliens, criminal trials for terrorists, stem-cell research on human embryos, crackpot global warming legislation and free speech-crushing campaign-finance laws.I might lie too, if I had opposed the Bush tax cuts, a marriage amendment to the Constitution, waterboarding terrorists and drilling in Alaska.

What McCain Means

Over 190,000 Arizonans petitioned to put Prop. 200 on the ballot. As it simply required proof of citizenship before receiving the benefits and privileges of citizenship, who could oppose it? Answer: the entire GOP congressional delegation, led by Sen. John McCain.

This is the same John McCain who battled the border fence and colluded with Teddy Kennedy on the amnesty bill rejected by Congress last year after a national uproar.

For conservatives, the stakes could not be higher.

For on the great controversies, McCain has sided as often with the Democrats and the Big Media that pay him court as with conservatives.

Where President Bush has been bravest, on taxes and judges, McCain has been his nemesis. Not only did McCain vote against the Bush tax cuts twice, he colluded to sell out the most conservative of the Bush nominees to the courts. …”

 Cannon Fire
Iowa and beyond.By Thomas Sowell

“…When it comes to personal temperament, Governor Romney would rate the highest for his even keel, regardless of what events are swirling around him, with Rudolph Giuliani a close second.Temperament is far more important for a president than for a candidate. A president has to be on an even keel 24/7, for four long years, despite crises that can break out anywhere in the world at any time.John McCain trails the pack in the temperament department, with his volatile, arrogant, and abrasive know-it-all attitude. His track record in the Senate is full of the betrayals of Republican supporters that have been the party’s biggest failing over the years and its Achilles heel politically. The elder President Bush’s betrayal of his “no new taxes” pledge was the classic example, but the current President Bush’s attempt to get amnesty for illegal aliens, with Senator McCain’s help, was more of the same.President Ford’s pardon of Richard Nixon probably cost him the 1976 election and cost the country the disastrous Carter years.McCain’s betrayals include not only the amnesty bill but also the McCain-Feingold bill that violated the First Amendment for the illusion of “taking money out of politics.” His back-door deal with Democrats on judicial nominations also pulled the rug out from under his party leaders in the Senate. The White House is not the place for a loose cannon. …”http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=OTdkNTg4MDUzOTA3NzU1MTA4YWJiY2FmNTgwYzFmMjA=

“…Franklin D. Roosevelt was younger when he died than John McCain is right now. Moreover, FDR had not been abused for years as a prisoner of war. When we are talking about a President of the United States, we are not talking about the fate of one individual, but the fate of a nation and of generations yet unborn. This is no time to get squeamish or politically correct, when talking about whoever is to carry the load of the free world on his shoulders in the White House.Quite aside from age, there is all too much evidence already that John McCain is not the kind of man who has given in-depth thought to many of the serious issues on which he shoots from the hip, which some people equate with “straight talk.”The media have dubbed him a “maverick,” which is another way of spinning the fact that he is headstrong and unreliable.Senator McCain’s teaming up with Senator Ted Kennedy on immigration, and with equally left-wing Senator Russ Feingold to violate the First Amendment in the name of “campaign finance reform,” are classic examples of a loose cannon. …”http://www.townhall.com/columnists/column.aspx?UrlTitle=mccains_age&ns=ThomasSowell&dt=01/24/2008&page=2

Looks like the George Soros funded Center for Public Integrity has another hit piece on the Bush Administration. The pump and dump drive by media are in high amplification or echo mode.

The Center for Public Integrity and a Media Scam

“…The Establishment Media howled the study’s lead “finding” — 935 false statements by Bush Administration officials in the two-year period leading up to the launch of the War.  The Associated Press, CNN, MSNBC, the Washington Post and – of course – the New York Times were all exhilarated to once again climb aboard the “Bush Lied – People Died” Express. …”

“….President Bush said there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq immediately prior to our invading Mesopotamia.  Saddam Hussein indeed at one point had them — we know this because he had used them, twice, on the Iranians and the Kurds.  His every move right up to the moment we went in was calculated to foster the appearance that he had them still, lest his neighbors think him weak and vulnerable.

But in we went, and we found nothing.  We had the wrong information.  This is not a lie — this is an error of fact…”

The Big Lie

False Pretenses

Following 9/11, President Bush and seven top officials of his administration waged a carefully orchestrated campaign of misinformation about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq.

By Charles Lewis and Mark Reading-Smith

“President George W. Bush and seven of his administration’s top officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, made at least 935 false statements in the two years following September 11, 2001, about the national security threat posed by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Nearly five years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, an exhaustive examination of the record shows that the statements were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses. …”

Soros, Obama, and the Millionaires Exception

“…It is well-known that George Soros, the hedge-fund manager, major Democratic Party donor and anti-Israel crusader, has been a generous contributor to Barack Obama. But relatively few people realize that a loophole in McCain-Feingold allowed Soros his family members to be particularly generous in support of Obama’s Senatorial campaign. …”

“…Because Obama was running against Blair Hull in the primary and then Jack Ryan in the general (both multi-millionaires), Obama could, and did, receive especially large donations from individuals, to so-called “millionaires exception.” Normally individuals are limited to giving $2300 to candidates in federal elections, but when candidates are running against millionaires, these limits are lifted and candidates are allowed to receive up to $12,000 from a single individual. Soros and his family gave Barack Obama $60,000. This does not include money that Soros was able to funnel to so-called 527 groups (Moveon.org, for example) that have also been politically active; nor does it include money that Soros was able to raise from tapping a network of friends, business associates, and employees. …”

Barack Obama and Israel

“…As Obama took steps toward the United States Senate he found a very powerful sugar daddy who would help fund his rise: George Soros. The billionaire hedge fund titan began supporting Obama very early — as befits a legendary speculative investor always looking for opportunities.   Obama coveted support from George Soros  and Soros responded  — along with many family members and probably the Soros ring of wealthy donors. Soros even found a loophole that allowed him and assorted family members to exceed regular limits on campaign contributions.

Soros is also a fierce foe of Israel, for years funding groups that have worked against Israel. He is also a man who has flexed his political muscle as a major funder of Democrat candidates and a slew of so-called 527 groups that are active in pushing their agendas (a reliance on international institutions, defeat of Republicans, Bush-bashing, Israel-bashing). He has also openly proclaimed his desire to break the bonds between America and Israel and has written of his desire to erode political support for Israel. …”

The Soros Threat To Democracy

“…That’s not the only case. Didn’t the mainstream media report that 2006’s vast immigration rallies across the country began as a spontaneous uprising of 2 million angry Mexican-flag waving illegal immigrants demanding U.S. citizenship in Los Angeles, egged on only by a local Spanish-language radio announcer?

Turns out that wasn’t what happened, either. Soros’ OSI had money-muscle there, too, through its $17 million Justice Fund. The fund lists 19 projects in 2006. One was vaguely described involvement in the immigration rallies. Another project funded illegal immigrant activist groups for subsequent court cases.

So what looked like a wildfire grassroots movement really was a manipulation from OSI’s glassy Manhattan offices. The public had no way of knowing until the release of OSI’s 2006 annual report. …”

Russia Moved Iraqi WMD

Moscow Moved Weapons to Syria and Lebanon

“…According to Shaw, Russian units hid Saddam’s arsenal inside Syria and in Lebanon’s Bekka valley.

“While in Iraq I uncovered detailed information that Spetsnatz units shredded records and moved all WMD and specified advanced munitions out of Iraq to Syria and Lebanon,” stated Shaw during an exclusive interview.

“I received information from several sources naming the exact Russian units, what they took and where they took both WMD materials and conventional explosives. Moscow made a 2001 agreement with Saddam Hussein to clear up all Russian involvement in WMD systems in Iraq,” stated Shaw.

Shaw’s assertions match the information provided by U.S. military forces that satellite surveillance showed extensive large-vehicle traffic crossing the Syrian border prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Moscow Paranoid About WMD

Shaw’s information also backs allegations by a wide variety of sources of Russia’s direct involvement in Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program. One U.N. bioterrorism expert announced that Russia has been Iraq’s “main supplier of the materials and know-how to weaponize anthrax, botulism and smallpox.”

Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Robert Goldberg cited former U.N. weapons inspector Richard Spertzel, who stated that Moscow supplied Baghdad with fermentation equipment to produce biotoxins. …”

Iraq Survey Group (Duelfer Report)

“…On September 30, 2004, the ISG released the Duelfer Report, its final report on Iraq’s WMD programs. Among its Key Findings:

  • Saddam controlled all of the Regime’s strategic decision making.
  • Saddam’s primary goal from 1991 to 2003 was to have UN sanctions lifted, while maintaining the security of the Regime.
  • The introduction of the Oil-For-Food program (OFF) in late 1996 was a key turning point for the Regime.
  • By 2000-2001, Saddam had managed to mitigate many of the effects of sanctions and undermine their international support.
  • Iran was the pre-eminent motivator [of Saddam’s desire to rebuild Iraq’s WMD capability].
  • The Iraq Survey Group (ISG) judged that events in the 1980s and early 1990s shaped Saddam’s belief in the value of WMD.
  • Saddam ended his nuclear program in 1991. ISG found no evidence of concerted efforts to restart the program, and Iraq’s ability to reconstitute a nuclear weapons program progressively decayed after 1991.
  • Saddam wanted to recreate Iraq’s WMD capability, after sanctions were removed and Iraq’s economy stabilized. Saddam aspired to develop a nuclear capability—in an incremental fashion, irrespective of international pressure and the resulting economic risks—but he intended to focus on ballistic missile and tactical chemical warfare (CW) capabilities. …”

4. Massive numbers of Saddam’s audio tapes and paper documents were collected and most remain unavailable and presumably un-translated.

No WMDs? Really?

“…According to David Kay, Charles Duelfer’s predecessor,

‘Even the bulkiest materials we are searching for, in the quantities we would expect to find, can be concealed in spaces not much larger than a two car garage.’

Iraq is about the size of California.  Let me do some math for you.  The ratio of the area of Iraq to the area of a two car garage is about 5 billion to one.  The ratio of the volume of a haystack to the volume of a small sewing needle is about 5 million to one.  That is, finding WMD in Iraq is 1000 times more difficult than finding a needle in a haystack.  And that only includes the surface of Iraq.

Would Saddam do such a thing as hide weapons?  Yes, absolutely.  The U.S. Coalition found dozens of military fighter aircraft buried in the desert.  You can see the pictures yourself. Some WMD related materials were buried in scientists’ back yards.  Saddam had friends in Syria.  Saddam hid himself in a hole on a farm.  Most of his command and control network was underground. …”

The Center for Public Integrity reports that its “exhaustive examination of the record shows that the statements were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.”

Saul Alinsky Takes the White House

If you want to understand the tactics of the left, especially the Clintons, Obama and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) , you need to learn about Saul Alinsky.

Pay attention for your freedom and liberty may be at peril.

Radicals of the Alinsky ilk play for keeps and use fair and foul means to accomplish their ends–political power. They are not nice people and should be treated accordingly.

“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.”

Who was Saul Alinsky?

“…Young Hillary Rodham’s admiration of Alinsky is, in a way, revealing of her young self. In one part of the thesis, she quotes an article from The Economist that called Alinsky, “Plato on the Barricades”:

His charm lies in his ability to commit himself completely to the people in the room with him. In a shrewd though subtle way he often manipulates them while speaking directly to their experience. Still he is a man totally at ease with himself, mainly because he loves his work which always seems to be changing — new communities, new contests, new fights.

But that is a description of the young Bill Clinton as much as it is of Alinsky. Alinsky died in 1972. Bill and Hillary Clinton married in 1975. We will never know if she was drawn to him because she saw a reflection of her lost radical hero. …”

Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals

RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)

RULE 2: “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don’t address the “real” issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.)

RULE 3: “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)

RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)

RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)

RULE 6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid “un-fun” activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.)

RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.)

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. (Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists’ minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.)

RULE 10: “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management’s wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.)

RULE 11: “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

Background Articles and Videos

Saul Alinsky

This profile was written by John Perazzo in April 2008.

  • Identified a set of very specific rules that ordinary citizens could follow, and tactics that ordinary citizens could employ, as a means of gaining public power
  • Created a blueprint for revolution under the banner of “social change”
  • Two of his most notable modern-day disciples are Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

“…Born to Russian-Jewish parents in Chicago in 1909, Saul Alinsky was a Marxist who helped establish the dual political tactics of confrontation and infiltration that characterized the 1960s and have remained central to all subsequent revolutionary movements in the United States.

Though Alinsky is generally viewed as a member of the political left, and rightfully so, his legacy is more methodological than ideological. He identified a set of very specific rules that ordinary citizens could follow, and tactics that ordinary citizens could employ, as a means of gaining public power. His motto was, “The most effective means are whatever will achieve the desired results.”

Alinsky studied criminology as a graduate student at the University of Chicago, during which time he became friendly with Al Capone and his mobsters. Ryan Lizza, senior editor of The New Republic, offers a glimpse into Alinsky’s personality: “Charming and self-absorbed, Alinsky would entertain friends with stories — some true, many embellished — from his mob days for decades afterward. He was profane, outspoken, and narcissistic, always the center of attention despite his tweedy, academic look and thick, horn-rimmed glasses.”

According to Lizza:

“Alinsky was deeply influenced by the great social science insight of his times, one developed by his professors at Chicago: that the pathologies of the urban poor were not hereditary but environmental. This idea, that people could change their lives by changing their surroundings, led him to take an obscure social science phrase—’the community organization’–and turn it into, in the words of Alinsky biographer Sanford Horwitt, ‘something controversial, important, even romantic.’ His starting point was a near-fascination with John L. Lewis, the great labor leader and founder of the CIO. What if, Alinsky wondered, the same hardheaded tactics used by unions could be applied to the relationship between citizens and public officials?” …”

“…In the Alinsky model, “organizing” is a euphemism for “revolution” — a wholesale revolution whose ultimate objective is the systematic acquisition of power by a purportedly oppressed segment of the population, and the radical transformation of America’s social and economic structure. The goal is to foment enough public discontent, moral confusion, and outright chaos to spark the social upheaval that Marx, Engels, and Lenin predicted — a revolution whose foot soldiers view the status quo as fatally flawed and wholly unworthy of salvation. Thus, the theory goes, the people will settle for nothing less than that status quo’s complete collapse — to be followed by the erection of an entirely new system upon its ruins. Toward that end, they will be apt to follow the lead of charismatic radical organizers who project an aura of confidence and vision, and who profess to clearly understand what types of societal “changes” are needed. …”

“…During the 1960s Alinsky was an enormously influential force in American life. As Richard Poe reports: “When President Johnson launched his War on Poverty in 1964, Alinsky allies infiltrated the program, steering federal money into Alinsky projects. In 1966, Senator Robert Kennedy allied himself with union leader Cesar Chavez, an Alinsky disciple. Chavez had worked ten years for Alinsky, beginning in 1952. Kennedy soon drifted into Alinsky’s circle. After race riots shook Rochester, New York, Alinsky descended on the city and began pressuring Eastman-Kodak to hire more blacks. Kennedy supported Alinsky’s shakedown.”

Alinsky died in 1972, but his legacy lives on as a staple of leftist method, a veritable blueprint for revolution (which he and his disciples euphemistically refer to as “change”). Two of his most notable modern-day disciples are Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. …”

Saul Alinsky

“…Saul David Alinsky (January 30, 1909, Chicago, Illinois – June 12, 1972, Carmel, California) was an American community organizer and writer. He is generally considered to be the founder of modern community organizing in America, the political practice of organizing communities to act in common self-interest.[1]

“…The documentary The Democratic Promise: Saul Alinsky and His Legacy,[5] states that “Alinsky championed new ways to organize the poor and powerless that created a backyard revolution in cities across America.” Many important community and labor organizers came from the “Alinsky School,” including Ed Chambers. Alinsky formed the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in 1940, and Chambers became its Executive Director after Alinsky died. Since the IAF’s formation, hundreds of professional community and labor organizers and thousands of community and labor leaders have attended its workshops. Fred Ross, who worked for Alinsky, was the principal mentor for Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta.[6][7] In Hillary Clinton’s senior honors thesis at Wellesley College, Clinton noted that Alinsky’s personal efforts were a large part of his method.[8] She later noted that although she agreed with his notion of self-empowernment she disagreed with his assessment that the system could only change from the outside.[8] In her memoir, Living History, Hillary Clinton wrote that Alinsky offered her a job after she graduated from Wellesley College, but she chose instead to attend Yale Law School.

Alinsky’s teachings influenced Barack Obama in his early career as a community organizer on the far South Side of Chicago.[7][8] Working for Gerald Kellman’s Developing Communities Project, Obama learned and taught Alinsky’s methods for community organizing.[7][9] Several prominent national leaders have been influenced by Alinsky’s teachings,[7] including Ed Chambers,[5] Tom Gaudette, Michael Gecan, Wade Rathke,[10][11], and Patrick Crowley.[12]

Alinsky is often credited with laying the foundation for the grassroots political organizing that dominated the 1960s.[5] Later in his life he encouraged stockholders in public corporations to lend their votes to “proxies”, who would vote at annual stockholders meetings in favor of social justice. While his grassroots style took hold in American activism, his call to stockholders to share their power with disenfranchised working poor only began to take hold in U.S. progressive (social liberalism) circles in the 1990s, when shareholder actions were organized against American corporations. …”

“…Alinsky advises his followers that the poor have no power and that the real target is the middle class: “Organization for action will now and in the decade ahead center upon America’s white middle class. That is where the power is. … Our rebels have contemptuously rejected the values and the way of life of the middle class. They have stigmatized it as materialistic, decadent, bourgeois, degenerate, imperialistic, war-mongering, brutalized and corrupt. They are right; but we must begin from where we are if we are to build power for change, and the power and the people are in the middle class majority.” …”

Hillary’s Choice: Political Power and Alinsky

“…The point of contention between Clinton and Obama is a farcical version of the difference between Johnson and King.  Clinton and Obama merely studied and dabbled in what Johnson and King and even Alinsky did — yet those studies and dabblings are what the electorate is invited to choose between.  One writer commented to The Atlantic’s Andrew Sullivan, “The principal difference between Hillary and Obama is not race or gender at all, but Saul Alinsky.”  Not exactly.

The real difference is that Hillary was earlier to discern that the power of elected officials is the key to radicals’ victory.  By running for public office, Obama now implicitly agrees.  Whether as street corner agitator, Senator or candidate, they both embody ideology as a substitute for life. …”

Hillary Clinton’s Thesis about Radical Activist Saul Alinsky

“…Alinsky would not have appealed to the Methodism in Hillary ‘s personality. He was much too profane, cursing a blue streak, smoking non-stop, and insulting many people who were as earnest as she was. The   University of  Life  focused on living and on under standing experience as it came. As we know, this emphasis on experience did not mean that Sixties people shared a single viewpoint. There were serious splits among political and cultural activists. Alinsky’s own pragmatism caused him to express great disdain for the Dionysian aspects of the Sixties. He made his organizers wear ties. He kept enormous distance from the politically flamboyant aspects of the flower child movement. He was widely known as a drinker and thought of drugs as counter-culture in a ridiculous way. Alinsky was very patriotic, very pro-culture, and never really did oppose the Vietnam War. He stuck to local and domestic issues like glue and had nothing but derision for those who did not. …”

Saul Alinsky Quotations

A racially integrated community is a chronological term timed from the entrance of the first black family to the exit of the last white family.

Always remember the first rule of power tactics; power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.

Change means movement. Movement means friction. Only in the frictionless vacuum of a nonexistent abstract world can movement or change occur without that abrasive friction of conflict.History is a relay of revolutions.

Last guys don’t finish nice.

Life is a corrupting process from the time a child learns to play his mother off against his father in the politics of when to go to bed; he who fears corruption fears life.Once you accept your own death, all of a sudden you’re free to live. You no longer care about your reputation. You no longer care except so far as your life can be used tactically to promote a cause you believe in.Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have. Tactics mean doing what you can with what you have. The greatest enemy of individual freedom is the individual himself. We must believe that it is the darkest before the dawn of a beautiful new world. We will see it when we believe it.

William F. Buckley commenting upon Senators Clinton and McCain

“…Clinton, of New York, is “a very consequential woman with an extraordinary background,” he said. “Her thought is kind of woozy left, not in my judgment threatening.” She is “a phenomenon, a woman candidate who might easily be president,” Buckley said. …”

“Arizona Senator John McCain, the most widely known of the potential Republican candidates, is “a remarkable human being,” Buckley said. “I don’t think that his name comes to mind automatically as somebody who over a period of years has addressed problems with fruitful thinking, let alone with consistent thinking.”

http://www.newscopy.org/william_f_buckley/index.html

The New York Times, a paper with a declining readership mainly of the liberal progressive leftist elites of both political parties, annointed Senators Hillary Clinton and John McCain with their endorsement as candidates for President of the United States and attacked former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Primary Choices: John McCain

“…Senator John McCain of Arizona is the only Republican who promises to end the George Bush style of governing from and on behalf of a small, angry fringe. With a record of working across the aisle to develop sound bipartisan legislation, he would offer a choice to a broader range of Americans than the rest of the Republican field.

We have shuddered at Mr. McCain’s occasional, tactical pander to the right because he has demonstrated that he has the character to stand on principle. He was an early advocate for battling global warming and risked his presidential bid to uphold fundamental American values in the immigration debate. A genuine war hero among Republicans who proclaim their zeal to be commander in chief, Mr. McCain argues passionately that a country’s treatment of prisoners in the worst of times says a great deal about its character. …”

“…Why, as a New York-based paper, are we not backing Rudolph Giuliani? Why not choose the man we endorsed for re-election in 1997 after a first term in which he showed that a dirty, dangerous, supposedly ungovernable city could become clean, safe and orderly? What about the man who stood fast on Sept. 11, when others, including President Bush, went AWOL?

That man is not running for president.

The real Mr. Giuliani, whom many New Yorkers came to know and mistrust, is a narrow, obsessively secretive, vindictive man who saw no need to limit police power. Racial polarization was as much a legacy of his tenure as the rebirth of Times Square.

Mr. Giuliani’s arrogance and bad judgment are breathtaking. When he claims fiscal prudence, we remember how he ran through surpluses without a thought to the inevitable downturn and bequeathed huge deficits to his successor. ..”

All the Risk that’s Fit to Disclose

“…The Times has seen its comparable core metropolitan circulation decline by 27% since 1993 (the first year that such figures were available online), when it had a circulation of 758,000.?? Its current 556,000 circulation places it a dismal number three in its home market behind the?New York Daily News (689,000) and the New York Post (663,000).

Some of this circulation decline has been intentional. The Times has raised its newsstand price substantially, generating more circulation revenue per copy, and dropping less affluent or less loyal readers.? Presumably, advertisers would pay more per thousand for a more upscale crowd.

But when a business raises prices steadily, above inflation and above its competitors, it is often said to be harvesting the business. Profits may go up, but the business is not likely to experience market share growth. …”

Local newspapers have historically been able to charge high rates for advertising to local advertisers. Most metropolitan newspapers are local monopolies. The Times is not.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5GVHyps8pI

John McCain and the GOP

“…Let’s review:

John McCain

–voted against the Bush tax cuts, one of only two Republican senators to do so;

–twice authored the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill with its Z Visas and path to citizenship;

–has done nothing to accelerate the construction of the border fence;

–stands behind McCain-Feingold even after the Supreme Court has struck down portions of it as unconstitutional;

–defends the Gang of 14 even though a long line of vacancies on the courts of appeal existed at the end of 2006 (and has only gotten longer in 2007);

–worked with Lindsey Graham to destroy the GOP’s agenda in September of 2006 by grandstanding over the interrogation and treatment of terrorists bill;

–opposed drilling in ANWR;

–opposed the Federal Marriage Amendment, twice;

–advocates a massive energy tax;

–performed poorly in three straight debates, displaying his off-putting temper on Saturday night last, and then wandering through the Sunday and Thursday debates, often losing the thread of his response and failing to answer the question, raising issues of his energy and age; …’

Former Senator Rick Santorum sees a lot of problems with John McCain’s credentials

“…Well, number one, John McCain will not get the base of the Republican Party. I mean, there was a reason John McCain collapsed last year, and it’s because he was the frontrunner, and everybody in the Republican Party got a chance to look at him. And when they looked at him, they wait well, wait a minute, he’s not with us on almost all of the core issues of…on the economic side, he was against the President’s tax cuts, he was bad on immigration. On the environment, he’s absolutely terrible. He buys into the complete left wing environmentalist movement in this country. He is for bigger government on a whole laundry list of issues. He was…I mean, on medical care, I mean, he was for re-importation of drugs. I mean, you can go on down the list. I mean, this is a guy who on a lot of the core economic issues, is not even close to being a moderate, in my opinion. And then on the issue of, on social conservative issues, you point to me one time John McCain every took the floor of the United States Senate to talk about a social conservative issue. It never happened. I mean, this is a guy who says he believes in these things, but I can tell you, inside the room, when we were in these meetings, there was nobody who fought harder not to have these votes before the United States Senate on some of the most important social conservative issues, whether it’s marriage or abortion or the like. He always fought against us to even bring them up, because he was uncomfortable voting for them. So I mean, this is just not a guy I think in the end that washes with the mainstream of the Republican Party. …”

McCain’s dismal 65 rating from the American Conservative Union

“McCain’s rating from the American Conservative Union has continued to slide over the years, with his most recent 2006 rating slipping to 65. Even Sen. Chuck Hagel from Nebraska scored higher, at 75. If this is what it takes to beat Hillary – another Democrat, as George Will refers to McCain, it’s not worth it in the long run run. …”

The Clinton campaign strategy is to attack their opponents with the truth or lies, whichever gets the job down.

The only way to successfully counter such tactics is attack them with your own offensive strategy and put them on defense.

The Clintons mention a campaign contributor of yours, you mention three of theirs and their Chinese Communists laundered money to boot.

Barry needs to go back and review the works Saul Alinsky–the prince of darkness–especially Rule 5:

“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.”

BET founder now doing her bidding against Obama

“…While introducing Clinton at Columbia College on Sunday, Johnson said, “To me, as an African-American, I am frankly insulted the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Hillary and Bill Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues — when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood; I won’t say what he was doing, but he stated in his book — when they [the Clintons] have been involved.”Johnson’s righteous indignation might not seem so outlandish if it were not for several ironies worth noting here: A glance at the first half of his convoluted remarks reveals that the most glaring contradiction relates to Johnson himself.Johnson made his fortune as the founder of BET, a cable television network that has long been criticized by many blacks for peddling the television equivalent of crack cocaine. As the owner of BET, Johnson led the way in promoting round-the-clock TV programs and videos that denigrate women and celebrate gangsterism and all manner of black pathology. …”

Will They Play the Race Card?

“…I’m scared for Barack Obama, but not for the same reasons that many other black voters are. While the possibility of a crazed gunman coming after him does worry me, my real fear is grounded in something more probable — that Hillary Clinton, after her less-than-stellar showing in Iowa and her close call in New Hampshire, will now go straight for Obama‘s jugular. Race, whether used subtly or as a blunt weapon, will undoubtedly be a factor.

We saw inklings of it last February in South Carolina, a state rich with black voters that holds its primary this month. News reports disclosed that an influential state lawmaker and prominent megachurch minister who had endorsed Clinton also happened to have a political consulting contract with the campaign worth some $200,000. Two other black state senators who later endorsed Clinton have financial ties to the lawmaker on the Clinton payroll. While the Clinton campaign defended the deal as legitimate and said the state senator was a longtime supporter, it looked to many like a slicker, ostensibly more respectable version of the old political strategy of spreading “street money” to black preachers to either depress or get out the black vote. …”

The Shadow Party: Part I

By David Horowitz and Richard Poe

“…The devolution of the Democrats from the Cold War party of Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy to the progressive party of Edward Kennedy and John F. Kerry has long been in progress, and is not quite complete. But the Democrats’ final transformation into a party of the left in the European mode may not be far off. Barely noticed by political observers, an activist juggernaut has seized control of the party’s national electoral apparatus, organized, financed and directed by the left. This party within the party has no official name, but some journalists and commentators have begun referring to it as the Shadow Party, a term that we will use as well. It denotes a network of non-profit groups presently raising hundreds of millions of dollars for deployment on the campaign battlefield. This money pays for advertising, get-out-the-vote-drives, opposition research, dirty tricks and virtually every aspect of a modern electoral campaign. But it does so through independent groups with no formal connection to the Democratic Party.

Follow the Money

The Shadow Party emerged from the dense thicket of campaign finance reforms engineered by Senators John McCain and Russ Feingold. Thanks to the soft-money ban enacted by the McCain-Feingold Act of March 27, 2002, the Democratic  Party entered the current election cycle hard pressed to raise enough money legally to undertake  a winning campaign. This created an imperative that found its inevitable loophole (as critics of McCain-Feingold always warned it would). Consequently, the driving force in the political war against George Bush is now a group of billionaires and millionaires operating through the veiled structures of the Shadow Party. …”

….

“…By early 2004, the Shadow Party’s infrastructure had assumed a coherent shape, under Soros’ guidance. At its heart lay seven ostensibly “independent” non-profit groups which constitute the network’s administrative core. Let us call them the Seven Sisters. In chronological order, based upon their launch dates, they are:

1.      MoveOn.org Launched September 22, 1998

2.      Center for American Progress (CAP) Launched July 7, 2003

3.      America Votes Launched July 15, 2003

4.      America Coming Together (ACT) Launched July 17, 2003

 5.      The Media Fund Launched November 5, 2003

6.      Joint Victory Campaign 2004 Launched November 5, 2003

The Return of Hillarycare?

by Michael D. Tanner

“…Perhaps it has been so long that Americans have forgotten exactly what Hillarycare was. If so, it’s worth reminding them. Under the Clinton plan, the government would have taken control of nearly one-seventh of the U.S. economy. It would have established the world’s largest government program — dwarfing even Social Security — created a huge new bureaucracy and required massive tax increases.

Government knows best?

The entire idea behind the Clinton health care plan was that government knew best — better than businesses, better than doctors, and better than patients. The Clinton plan would have required every business in America to provide health care coverage to its employees, regardless of cost. The mandate would have devastated small businesses and cost thousands of jobs.

Clinton’s plan would also have forced Americans to give up their current health insurance, even if they were happy with it, in return for a government-designed standard benefit package that could be far more expensive. …”

Who will the conservatives vote for now that Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter are no longer running?

With the departure of Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter from the Presidential 2008 Republican race, who will movement conservatives vote for in the primaries and general election?

Looks like Mitt Romney is the only conservative still running and the current leader in delegates and votes.

“…This chart shows the total number of delegates committed to each candidate from the Primaries/caucuses/state conventions (different state parties use varied methods for electing delegates).

Results as of January 20, 2008 from CNN Election Center 2008: Delegate Scorecard [2]

Candidate Delegates Number of States Won Percentage of current delegates Percentage of Delegates needed to receive party nomination
Mitt Romney 72 2 41.15% 6.05%
John McCain 38 3 24.36% 2.77%
Mike Huckabee 29 1 18.59% 2.43%

Romney for President

By the Editors of National Review

“…Uniting the conservative coalition is not enough to win a presidential election, but it is a prerequisite for building on that coalition. Rudolph Giuliani did extraordinary work as mayor of New York and was inspirational on 9/11. But he and Mike Huckabee would pull apart the coalition from opposite ends: Giuliani alienating the social conservatives, and Huckabee the economic (and foreign-policy) conservatives. A Republican party that abandoned either limited government or moral standards would be much diminished in the service it could give the country. Two other major candidates would be able to keep the coalition together, but have drawbacks of their own. John McCain is not as

National Review Dec. 31, 2007 Cover: Mitt Romney for President

conservative as Romney. He sponsored and still champions a campaign-finance law that impinged on fundamental rights of political speech; he voted against the Bush tax cuts; he supported this year’s amnesty bill, although he now says he understands the need to control the border before doing anything else. …”

“…For some people, Romney’s Mormonism is still a barrier. But we are not electing a pastor. The notion that he will somehow be controlled by Salt Lake City or engaged in evangelism for his church is outlandish. He deserves to be judged on his considerable merits as a potential president. As he argued in his College Station speech, his faith informs his values, which he has demonstrated in both the private and public sectors. In none of these cases have any specific doctrines of his church affected the quality of his leadership. Romney is an exemplary family man and a patriot whose character matches the high office to which he aspires.
More than the other primary candidates, Romney has President Bush’s virtues and avoids his flaws. His moral positions, and his instincts on taxes and foreign policy, are the same. But he is less inclined to federal activism, less tolerant of overspending, better able to defend conservative positions in debate, and more likely to demand performance from his subordinates. A winning combination, by our lights. In this most fluid and unpredictable Republican field, we vote for Mitt Romney. …”

The Republican establishment elites candidate –John McCain–will never get grassroot conservative or Republican support–he still does not get the immigration issue.

The American people want all the illegal immigrants or criminal aliens to either go home or be sent home no matter how many years it takes.

McCain has the same problem that Hillary Clinton does–people do not like nor trust him–their Mavericks out for themselves.

 The Real McCain Record
Obstacles in the way of conservative support.

By Mark R. Levin
“…The McCain domestic record is a disaster. To say he fought spending, most particularly earmarks, is to nibble around the edges and miss the heart of the matter. For starters, consider:
McCain-Feingold — the most brazen frontal assault on political speech since Buckley v. Valeo. McCain-Kennedy — the most far-reaching amnesty program in American history. McCain-Lieberman — the most onerous and intrusive attack on American industry — through reporting, regulating, and taxing authority of greenhouse gases — in American history. McCain-Kennedy-Edwards — the biggest boon to the trial bar since the tobacco settlement, under the rubric of a patients’ bill of rights. McCain-Reimportantion of Drugs — a significant blow to pharmaceutical research and development, not to mention consumer safety (hey Rudy, pay attention, see link).

And McCain’s stated opposition to the Bush 2001 and 2003 tax cuts was largely based on socialist, class-warfare rhetoric — tax cuts for the rich, not for the middle class. The public record is full of these statements. Today, he recalls only his insistence on accompanying spending cuts.

As chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, McCain was consistently hostile to American enterprise, from media and pharmaceutical companies to technology and energy companies.

McCain also led the Gang of 14, which prevented the Republican leadership in the Senate from mounting a rule change that would have ended the systematic use (actual and threatened) of the filibuster to prevent majority approval of judicial nominees. …”

Speak Up!
Now is the time to sort things out.

By Mark R. Levin “…You ask, in essence, that we ignore McCain’s leadership in the amnesty debate and his course reversal of recent months as he seeks votes. What does this tell us about the man? The bill he co-authored with Ted Kennedy (and which was foolishly supported by the current president) would have caused enormous economic and cultural dislocations. (VDH doesn’t need lectures from me on the subject, since he’s written eloquently on it.) As the Heritage Foundation and many others pointed out at the time, the McCain-led effort would have resulted in tens of millions of new illegal aliens coming to the country with the likelihood of eventually receiving citizenship; the expedited bankruptcy of major entitlement programs, including Social Security; and the imposition of massive new costs on state and private enterprises, from schools and hospitals to law enforcement. McCain’s bill would have made it impossible for the already hapless federal government to properly conduct criminal background checks before issuing “probationary” Z-visas to 12-20 million illegal aliens already in the country. And every effort to amend his bill to prevent gang members, terrorists, and others from receiving these visas was opposed by McCain. He also voted for the Specter amendment, which provided that the government of Mexico, among others, would have to be consulted before building physical barriers along the southern border. Six months later, McCain says he was wrong. He gets it now. Secure the border first. I don’t believe him. And as others have pointed out here and elsewhere, he still supports amnesty despite claiming otherwise. The American people said “hell no!” It wasn’t that long ago that he suggested they were motivated by racial animus rather than good thinking. No, VDH, if McCain loses it’s because of his own failings. …”

Remember, We’re Choosing a President

By Thomas Sowell

“…When it comes to personal temperament, Governor Romney would rate the highest for his even keel, regardless of what events are swirling around him, with Rudolph Giuliani a close second.

Temperament is far more important for a President than for a candidate. A President has to be on an even keel 24/7, for four long years, despite crises that can break out anywhere in the world at any time.

John McCain trails the pack in the temperament department, with his volatile, arrogant, and abrasive know-it-all attitude. His track record in the Senate is full of the betrayals of Republican supporters that have been the party’s biggest failing over the years and its Achilles heel politically.

The elder President Bush’s betrayal of his “no new taxes” pledge was the classic example, but the current President Bush’s attempt to get amnesty for illegal aliens, with Senator McCain’s help, was more of the same.

President Ford’s pardon of Richard Nixon probably cost him the 1976 election and cost the country the disastrous Carter years.

McCain’s betrayals include not only the amnesty bill but also the McCain-Feingold bill that violated the First Amendment for the illusion of “taking money out of politics.” His back-door deal with Democrats on judicial nominations also pulled the rug out from under his party leaders in the Senate.

The White House is not the place for a loose cannon.”

Rudy Giuliani, Mke Huckabee and Fred Thompson would all be excellent candidates for the Vice President spot on the Republican ticket in 2008.

My favorite candidate still remains Fred Thompson but I like all three as a future Vice President of the United States of America.

The time is now for movement conservatives and libertarians to unite behind a conservative candidate, one that will win in November–Mitt Romney!

“…Assuming any actual Republicans are voting for McCain — or for liberals’ new favorite candidate for us, Mike Huckabee — this column is for you.

I’ve been casually taking swipes at Mitt Romney for the past year based on the assumption that, in the end, Republicans would choose him as our nominee. My thinking was that Romney would be our nominee because he is manifestly the best candidate.

I had no idea that Republican voters in Iowa and New Hampshire planned to do absolutely zero research on the candidates and vote on the basis of random impulses.

Dear Republicans: Please do one-tenth as much research before casting a vote in a presidential election as you do before buying a new car.

One clue that Romney is our strongest candidate is the fact that Democrats keep viciously attacking him while expressing their deep respect for Mike Huckabee and John McCain. …”

 Dangerous Demagoguery
Beware candidates who inspire but don’t inform.

By Thomas Sowell

Most of the horrors of the 20th century — of which there were many — would not have been possible without demagoguery or misleading propaganda.

Most people have too much decency and common sense to have gone along with those horrors had someone not found a way to turn off their thinking and turn on their emotions.

That is how Jim Jones led hundreds of people to their deaths at Jonestown. On a much larger scale, that is how Lenin created a regime of mass murder in Russia, how Hitler did the same thing in Germany, and Mao in China. …”

“…The real difference between liberals and conservatives is in which specific things they want to change, and in what way.

Milton Friedman was the leading conservative thinker of his time but he wanted to radically change the Federal Reserve, the school system, and the tax system, among other things.

Everybody is for change. They differ on the specifics. Uniting people behind the thoughtless mantra of “change” means asking for a blank check in exchange for rhetoric. That deal has been made many times in many places — and millions of people have lived to regret it.

It is not too much to ask politicians to talk specifics, instead of trying to sweep us along, turning off our minds and turning on our emotions, with soaring rhetoric.

Optimists might even hope for some logical consistency and hard facts. …”

John McCain’s Record on Economic Issues

“…While Senator McCain’s economic record contains a number of pro-growth positions, such as his support for school choice and free trade, and his steadfast opposition to wasteful government spending, his overall record is tainted by a marked antipathy towards the free market and individual freedom.

This antipathy is evidenced by the Senator’s vocal and class-warfare-laced opposition to the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts; his occasional but eager support for increased government regulation; his support for raising Social Security taxes; and his persistent attacks on political free speech in the form of the McCain-Feingold Act.

“The Bush tax cuts were a driving force behind the economic prosperity of the last couple of years and a cornerstone of a pro-growth philosophy,” said Club for Growth President Pat Toomey. “Not only did Senator McCain oppose these cuts, he aligned himself with the likes of Ted Kennedy in his rhetorical attacks in 2001 and 2003. Four years later, American taxpayers still have not heard the Senator disavow his misguided statements and votes.” …”

Hillary Clinton–Candidate of The 1970s–Jimmy Carter II?

“Hell is full of good intentions or desires.”

~ Saint Bernard of Clairvaux (1091-1153)

The American people do not like or trust Hillary Clinton.

For Hillary Clinton the feeling is mutual.

She actually believes she knows what is best for the American people–more government spending and higher taxes –an expanded welfare system and nanny state.

Hillary Clinton: I Will Change Our Country

“…Hillary Loves The 70s

As Hillary’s campaign platform demonstrates, she seeks to return the country to 1970s-style liberalism, with its limitless faith in the power of government to create a “fair” society in a world characterized by ecological crisis, a zero-sum economy, and diminishing expectations.  All of Hillary’s major domestic policy initiatives — socialized medicine, reduced energy consumption, mandating “equality” between the sexes — come straight from the Democratic playbook of that era. This was the worldview that Ronald Reagan confronted and defeated more than twenty-five years ago.  Reagan recognized that at the heart of contemporary liberalism lies a profound pessimism about the ability of ordinary Americans to manage their own lives in a responsible, productive, and decent manner.  Reagan rejected this pessimism with every fiber of his being.  This is what people really are referring to when they speak of Reagan’s “optimism.”Hillary Clinton will never be mistaken for an optimist like Reagan.  She clearly does not believe in the ability of the American people to govern their own lives, make their own decisions, and abide by the consequences of their actions.  Turning Reagan’s famous aphorism on its head, Hillary believes that government is not the problem, it is the solution. In 1980 the American people stood up and loudly proclaimed that they still believed in a country based on individual liberty, self-reliance, and limited government, however tattered those notions have become over the years.  Hillary Clinton claims they now are “ready” for a new way. Indeed, I believe that the 2008 election will be a referendum, not on the War in Iraq, but on whether the future of this country lies in freedom or socialism.  Let’s hope the American people make the right choice.”

What the American people want is for Hillary Clinton to mind her own business.

Just please leave the American family alone.

Let the American people choose how to spend their money.

Charlie Rose – An Appreciation of Milton Friedman

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pbHo_fQCFg

Hillary Clinton is a social engineer, control freak, and statist.

She does not understand either the limits of knowledge nor the resulting unintended consequences.

HUMAN IGNORANCE AND SOCIAL ENGINEERING

“…”The recognition of the insuperable limits to his knowledge ought indeed to teach the student of society a lesson in humility which should guard him against becoming an accomplice in men’s fatal striving to control society–a striving which makes him not only a tyrant over his fellows, but which may well make him the destroyer of a civilization which no brain has designed but which has grown from the free efforts of millions of individuals.”(2)

Hayek opposed any attempt to engineer — that is, centrally to plan and to coordinate — the structure of society. He believed that such engineering actually destroyed rather than created society which was the result of human action but not of human design. Alongside the Austrian economist Ludwig Von Mises, Hayek provided what are arguably the best critiques of the ‘constructivist’ theories and policies that have grown in popularity during the twentieth century.

Both Hayek and Mises had witnessed the devastation of classical liberalism which had been brought on by two world wars, but most particularly by World War I. Wartime governments had clamped a centralized control over the private sector in order to ensure a continuing flow of armaments and the other goods deemed necessary for victory. Governments had inflated their money supplies to pay for massive military build-ups. And war had strangled the flow of free trade that classical liberals considered to be a prerequisite to peace, prosperity, and freedom. In short, both Hayek and Mises had watched nineteenth century classical liberalism being replaced by twentieth century statism.

http://www.zetetics.com/mac/soceng.htm

The Meaning of Hayek

“…Hayek’s thesis in The Road to Serfdom is that one intervention inevitably leads to another. The unintended consequences of each market intervention are economic distortions, which generate further interventions to correct them. That interventionist dynamic leads society down the road to serfdom. …”

“…Many credit President Ronald Reagan’s defense buildup with the downfall of the communist countries. If Hayek’s analysis is correct, however, communism collapsed because of the inner contradictions of that economic system. I think the evidence shows that Hayek was correct, and it was Reagan’s free- market economic policies, which transformed not only the United States but much of the rest of the Western world, that won the Cold War. Understanding that point has important implications for current debates over fiscal priorities.

The chief paradox of the post-Cold War era is that the idea of central planning is discredited intellectually where it was actually tried, but it lives on in the West, particularly in the United States. …”

HillaryCare 2.0

“…It’s also a sign of how she has wised up since her famous debacle early in her husband’s first term. For a liberal seeking to expand government-run health care, it’s not necessary to create new, elaborate governmental mechanisms that are vulnerable to parody and frightening to voters. Simply building on the status quo is enough to hasten us toward national health insurance. That’s because we have a hybrid system of private insurance and government health care that is increasingly tilting toward government. As the conservative writer Ramesh Ponnuru points out, only 12 percent of health-care costs are paid out of pocket, and the government already pays almost half of health-care costs. Liberals need only push this system toward its logical conclusion. …”

1993 Clinton health care plan

“…The First Lady’s role in the secret proceedings of the Health Care Task Force also sparked litigation in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, in relation to the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) which requires openness in government. The Clinton White House argued that the Recommendation Clause in Article II of the U.S. Constitution would make it unconstitutional to apply the procedural requirements of FACA to Hillary’s participation in the meetings of the Task Force. Some constitutional experts argued to the court that such a legal theory was not supported by the text, history, or structure of the Constitution. [12]Ultimately, Hillary Clinton won the litigation when the D.C. Circuit ruled narrowly that the First Lady of the United States can be deemed a government official (and not a mere private citizen) for purposes of not having to comply with the procedural requirements of FACA.[13]In 1993, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, along with several other groups, filed a lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and Donna Shalala‎ over closed-door meetings related to the health care plan. The AAPS sued to gain access to the list of members of the task force. Judge Royce C. Lamberth found in favor of the plaintiffs and awarded $285,864 to the AAPS for legal costs; Lamberth also harshly criticized the Clinton administration and Clinton aide Ira Magaziner in his ruling.[14] Subsequently, a federal appeals court overturned the award and the initial findings on the basis that Magaziner and the administration had not acted in bad faith.[15] …”

FRED THOMPSON ON HILLARY CLINTON’S HEALTHCARE PLAN

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rue98ewvpoM

Hillary Hates Freedom

“…We know that societies that reject bourgeois freedom – the freedom of individualism, civil society, the rule of law, and yes, you guessed it, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – in favor of collectivism and economic goods end up with neither freedom nor prosperity. The United States has the most advanced medical care in the world — The rate of death from heart disease in the U.S. was cut in half between 1980 and 2000, for instance – because we have a mostly free and capitalist economy. Mandates and regulations make medical care more costly than it needs to be, and Hillary Clinton now proposes to pile on yet more mandates and regulations. But the really scary prospect of another Clinton presidency is not what she would do to our medical care but what she would do to the “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” that is the foundation of our free society. …”

 http://www.cato-at-liberty.org/2007/09/18/hillary-hates-freedom/

 The Return of HillaryCare

“…All is not lost, however. In taking the national stage, Romney has backtracked from the more statist parts of his Massachusetts plan. Upping the ante, Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani has proposed a free-market friendly plan that, on top of other reforms, would create personal health savings accounts and allow Americans to shop for insurance in other states. Health care reform remains an urgent priority, but Republicans won’t get it done by taking their cues from the woman who engineered the greatest health care policy debacle in recent history. As Michael Cannon says, “You don’t fight HillaryCare by offering Hillary-lite.”

http://frontpagemagazine.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID=2199FB72-848A-420D-8C39-BD8E5061F03F

Are Health Care Costs ‘Too High’?

“…The bottom line is that there is only one truly efficient solution to the high cost of health care in this country:  expanding the free market by eliminating mandates and phasing out entitlement programs.  Socialized medicine is not the answer.  Either it will lead to even more health care spending, and therefore higher taxes, because the government will mandate that all Americans receive top quality medical care; or it will lead to shortages, rationing, and lower-quality medical care for most Americans, as a way to reduce total spending.  Neither scenario is desirable.   Indeed, the first scenario inevitably will lead to the second.  Plus, unless the government tyrannically prohibits wealthier citizens from paying separately for private medical care – effectively eliminating property rights – we still will have a mixed system that inefficiently adds to total costs.

Under greater free market conditions, Americans will be required to pay more individually for the health care they receive.  Whether these payments are made out-of-pocket or through rationally priced insurance premiums, this will create the financial incentives to control spending that Samuelson stresses in his article.  Yes, this also will mean that many Americans will not be able to afford the same level of health care that they currently enjoy as a result of government subsidies.  However, the moral and financial responsibility for providing medical care should rest with each individual citizen and his or her family, not the business community or general public.  Where an individual’s resources are not enough, private charity, not the government’s taxing authority, should fill the gap.

Nevertheless, even in a free market, total health care spending in this country still will be very high.  As noted previously, high-quality health care is extremely expensive, and Americans have enormous demand for the best medical care money can buy.  There is nothing inherently “bad” about this.  The United States is an extremely rich country, and we have enough wealth to expend a large percentage of our gross domestic product on health care, while still providing for our other vital needs, e.g., national defense.

However, we do not have enough money for the government to “promise” every American, regardless of age or condition, that he or she will receive the best available medical care.  We are not that rich, and never will be.

The McCain Mutiny: The Phony Conservative!

The American people also know that for 2008 Presidential election the pump and dump drive-by-media are supporting or betting on the COME–Clinton, Obama, McCain, and Edwards to be the two Presidential candidates. They currently favor Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party and John McCain for the Republican Party.

While 9 out of 10 of the main stream media may support these candidates, 10 out 10 movement conservatives and libertarians will never vote for the COME candidates.

Most would relish voting against any of these candidates.

HUMAN EVENTS Endorses Fred Thompson

Conservative talk radio hosts will only support a real conservative whether that be Fred Thompson or Mitt Romney.

Even though Newt Gingrich may be advising the Mike Huckabee campaign they view Huckabee as a moderate popularist not in the mold of either Barry Goldwater or Ronald Reagan.

For many good reasons they view a John McCain Republican candidacy as anathema or beyond the pale– Senator John McCain is the phony conservative.

Look–my friend–I suggest you change party affiliations or  better yet retire and play with your grandchildren.

Movement conservatives and libertarians do not want a compassionate conservative in the mold of a R&B (Rockerfeller and Bush) Republican, aka a country club or moderate Republican, which Rudi Giuliani and Mike Huckabee candidacy would be.

Rush: A Moderate GOP Nominee will lose in Landslide

The movement conservatives will vote for either Fred Thompson or Mitt Romney for the Presidential candidate in 2008.

To unite the Republican Party the Vice-President candidate in 2008 would either be Rudi Giuliani or Mike Huckabee representing the moderates or the conservative candidate that came in second in delegates for the Presidential nomination.

Looks like a brokered convention in which the candidates with the most delegates will drive the names on the ticket.

The most likely ticket would be Fred Thompson for President and Mitt Romney for Vice President.

This ticket would win no matter who is Presidential candidate for the Democratic Party.

I share Fred’s concerns over the need for a constitutional amendment repealing the Federal income tax so that we do not eventually end up with both the FairTax, a consumption based national sales tax, and then at some latter date a Democratic Party effort to reinstate the Federal income tax.

While it will take some time to get the constitutional amendment through the states to ratify the amendment, once the American people get to keep their entire pay-check each pay day, they will vote out of office any candidate who foolishly dares to reinstate the prior Federal income tax based system on top of the Federal sales tax.

I urge Fred Thompson to revisit the FairTax proposal and proposed legislation and read or listen to the new book by Neal Boortz and John Linder :

Clinton’s Cap and Trade Tax on The American People for Consuming Electricity and Driving Cars, SUVs and Trucks!

Leaders must think for themselves and not follow the mob, fanatics, political consultants or the mainstream media.

You are pandering big time.

The person who wins the nomination and gets elected President of The United States of America makes the fewest mistakes in his campaign.

Sorry Senator, you just made one more of many mistakes and flunked the Ignorance Test (IT) on global warming.

What America needs is more exploration and drilling for oil and natural gas in the US and off our coasts, more gasoline refineries, more coal and nuclear power plants and may be in fifty years fusion power plants.

Americans like their jobs and standard of living and this requires affordable transportation to work and electricity in their homes and place of employment.

The American people do not need another tax–which is exactly what cap and trade as well as the carbon tax are all about. The FairTax is a consumption tax. What you do not need is another tax on top of the FairTax.

What Happened to Polls In New Hampshire?

“Hillary Clinton’s victory in New Hampshire was a shock to anyone who followed the pre-election polls. At Rasmussen Reports, our final numbers suggested a 7-point victory for Barack Obama. In the end, Clinton won by three. Other polls also foreshadowed a solid victory for Obama, some projecting a double digit margin. The campaigns themselves expected a significant victory for Obama (the Clinton campaign was even saying that anything less than a double-digit loss would be a victory of sorts for their candidate). …”

Some say his ability to play political hardball goes back to his first campaign

“…Palmer to this day does not concede the flaws that Obama’s team found in her signatures. She maintains that she could have overcome the Obama team’s objections and stayed on the ballot if she had more time and resources.

It was wrenching to withdraw, she said. “But sit for a moment, catch your breath, get up and keep going. I’m a very practical person. Politics is not the only vehicle for accomplishing things.” She became a special assistant to the president of the University of Illinois and is now retired.”

”…To Hillary Clinton:

“Senator, I have a personal issue here.  I remember when your husband was elected president.  I actually came out public — publicly during his inaugural week.  It was a very hopeful time for the gay community.  For the first time, we were being recognized as American citizens.  It was wonderful.  We were very, very hopeful, and in the years that followed, our hearts were broken. We were thrown under the bus.  We were pushed aside.  All those great promises that were made to us were broken. And I understand politics.  I understand how hard things are, to bring about change.  But it is many years later now, and what are you going to do to be different than that?  I know you’re sitting here now; it’s a year out — more than a year.  A year from now, are we going to be left behind like we were before?”

“Well, you know, obviously, Melissa, I don’t see it  quite the way that you describe, but I respect your feeling about it,” Clinton said.  “I think that we  certainly didn’t get as much done as I would have liked, but I believe that there was a lot of honest effort going on by the president, the vice president and the rest of us who were trying to keep the momentum going”

“The Goldwater girls and boys were for the most part innocent, and they tended to have slightly protruded jaws, not unlike Big Barry himself, and blue eyes–an astonishing number had blue eyes (was the world finally coming to the war of the blue-eyes versus the brown-eyed?)–and they were simple, they were small-town, they were hicky, the boys tended to have a little acne, an introspective pimple or two by the corner of the mouth or the side of the chin, a lot of the boys looked solemn and serious, dedicated but slightly blank–they could fix a transistor radio, but a word like ‘Renaissance’ would lay a soft wound of silence, stupefaction in their brain. They were idealists, nearly every last one of them but they did not speak of the happier varieties of idealism; one thought of Lutherans from North Dakota, 4-H from Minnesota, and Eagle Scouts from Maine. Many of them wore eyeglasses.”

Presidential Election 2008: American Elites Vs. American People

Posted on January 8, 2008. Filed under: Blogroll, Economics, Links, Politics, Rants, Raves, Taxes, Video, War |

Last Saturday I accidently listened on the radio to both the Republican and Democratic Candidates debates.

The Democratic candidates sounded like Marxist attacking  American business, free enterprise and markets with their class warfare rhertoric.

What all four Democratic candidates needed to be reminded of is that American businesses produce goods and services, jobs, income, and wealth that the American people need and want. Profits provide the funds to invest in capital to expand the quality and quantity of goods and services produced.

Change in the form of more taxes, more government spending and regulation, larger deficits and a larger national debt, do not provide the goods, services, jobs and profits for the American people. This is not change for the better but change for the worse. Actually, it is more of the same–tax and spend and increase the American people’s dependency on government so the Democrats can stay in power.

None of the Democratic candidates seem to have a clue as to how wealth is created, how to run a business, how markets and the economy work. They are four lawyers who like to talk but produce nothing any American wants to purchase. They are boring, unimpressive and simply not qualified to be President of the United States and Commander-in-Chief.

The Republican candidates were more impressive by far.

Most interesting was the position of the Republican candidates on illegal immigration and what should be done about it.

The Republican establishment was represented by Senator John McCain and former Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani.

Look– Senator McCain and Mayor Giuliani, you are still not getting it when it comes to immigration.

Yes the American people want border security first with two fences with a road in between and regular border patrols to stop the flow of illegal immigrants, terrorists, drugs, crime, and gangs into the United States. They want border security now!

Concurrently the American people want all 20 to 30 million illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin–largely Mexico. They want criminal alien removal. Stop arguing about what is or is not amnesty. They are all criminals and should be removed and deported–cut the rubbish about paying a $5000 fine is not amnesty. Send all illegal immigrants or criminal aliens back now!

The American elites of both the Republican and Democratic Parties are heavily invested in both Open Borders and the current Federal Tax system. The American people do not want either!

Cutting Federal taxes only to have local, city, county, and state taxes go up significantly to pay for illegal immigrant education, welfare services, medical and hospital care, jails, prisons, etc is not fooling the American people.

President Bush, Senator McCain and Rudy Guiliani represent the Republican Party elite or establishment position. All of the Democratic Party candidates support the Open Border and existing Federal Tax system.

Unfortunately for them, the American people want a Border Security Fence, criminal alien removal and a consumption tax–The FairTax to replace the exisiting Federal tax system based on income.

NumbersUSA’s Roy Beck assesses both Republican and Democratic candidates on the Immigration issues.

“…ABI NEVER ENDORSES CANDIDATES. Our highlighting of some candidates is to help citizens know who is most likely to work for reducing overall immigration so citizens can factor that information into their voting decisions. But we realize that voters mark their ballot based on many issues and judgments about the character and leadership of a candidate. We don’t presume to suggest the best candidate for your overall needs and interests. And, Americans for Better Immigration is strictly non-partisan, with no preference for one party or another. …”

http://www.betterimmigration.com/candidates/2006/prez2008.html

 NumbersUSA’s Roy Beck Assesses
Republican Presidential Candidates On Immigration Issues

“…ROY BECK’S CRITERIA FOR ASSESSING: “I look at these candidates ONLY in terms of what they have done about immigration and what they are promising to do on the issue.

“I grade all these candidates on how well they promise to carry out the recommendations of two national commissions in the 1990s and on other widely accepted goals for reducing overall illegal and legal immigration. …”

http://www.betterimmigration.com/candidates/2006/prez08_gop1.html

Apparently the moderators of the debate nor the Democratic Party candidates wanted to discuss either legal or illegal immigration. Check out Roy Beck’s assessment and you will see why.

 NumbersUSA’s Roy Beck Assesses
Democrat Presidential Candidates On Immigration Issues

http://www.betterimmigration.com/candidates/2006/prez08_dem1.html

On the issue of both legal and illegal immigration, the candidates that closely reflect the views of the American people include the following:

Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney, Duncan Hunter and Alan Keyes– have excellent ratings on most of the immigration issues.

Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee having mostly good to excellent ratings on immigration issues.

John McCain and Rudy Giuiani have mostly bad to abysmal ratings on immigration issues.

The Democratic candidates all have bad to abysmal ratings on immigration issues.

If President Bush could run for a third term I suspect he would also have bad to abysmal ratings on immigration issues. President Bush favors open borders.

The second issue that divides the American elites from the American people is the need to reform and replace the existing Federal income tax system with a Federal consumption or sales tax–The Fair Tax:

http://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer

If the FairTax were passed by Congress and you were President, would you sign the bill into law?

http://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer?pagename=news_presScorecard

The Presidential candidates who have said yes to the above question include the following:

Republicans: Mike Huckabee, Ducan Hunter, Alan Keyes, Ron Paul

Democrats: Mike Gravel

Fred Thompson was initially attracted to the FairTax but is now noncommital based on the advice of Larry Lindsay.

All of the other candidates would not sign the FairTax bill.

The next President of the United States will be that candidate of either party who is right on both the illegal immigration and FairTax issues and supports what the American people want and not what the American elites expouse.

Currently only the following candidates are right on both issues:

Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, Alan Keyes, and Ron Paul.

As a long-time member of the conservative movement and libertarian, my first choice for candidate for President of the United States is Fred Thompson. While Fred is solid on immigration issues, I am very disappointed that he backed away from the FairTax.

Fred Thompson Speaks on Our Broken Tax System 10/2/07

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kafoium2m6w

Please Fred stop listening to Larry Lindsey and back the FairTax. Lindsey was very wrong on how much the Iraq war would cost–$200 billion–it is going to be closer to 1,000 billion and could even be higher!

I was a big supportor of Steve Forbes’ Flat Tax but I have since switched to the FairTax. The reason is quite simple. The American people including Fred Thompson’s  friend, Larry Lindsey, do not understand the very complex Federal tax system and hate wasting valuable time trying to fill out Federal tax returns each year.

The Presidential candidate who gets the immigration and FairTax issues right will be the next President of the United States of America!

Hillary Clinton–The Candidate of Experience and Change

Posted on January 5, 2008. Filed under: Blogroll, Politics, Rants, Raves, Video |

Hillary Clinton is definitely the candidate of experience and change.

Unfortunately neither the experience nor change qualifies one to be President of The United States of America and Commander -in- Chief.

Hillary Clinton for over twenty-years has experience in covering up and shutting up her husband’s constantly changing sexual woman partners.

Bill Clinton wanted to run for President in 1988, but was told that his sexual addiction problem was so bad that he should not even think about it.

Hillary Clinton stepped-in and managed the problem so that he could at least try in 1992.

When Bill Clinton was on the verge of losing the New Hampshire primary in 1992 over the exposure of one of Bill Clinton’s many woman friends, both appeared on Sixty Minutes to deny the accusations.

Both Bill and Hillary Clinton mislead and lied about the situation and the rest is history.

If the truth about the sexual addiction problem had been exposed then, Bill Clinton and for that matter Hillary Clinton would never have been President nor for that matter a candidate for President of The United States of America.

Hillary Clinton– the white working woman’s candidate–the woman of experience and change?

I think not.

The American people neither trust nor like her.

Understanding Bill
He was a disaster waiting to happen.

“…He has talked to various people how everyone has an “addiction,” which his listeners have taken as references to his own compulsive attachment to sex or to politics or both. Bill Clinton told a friend in the mid-1980s: “I think we’re all addicted to something. Some people are addicted to drugs. Some to power. Some to food. Some to sex. We’re all addicted to something.” When journalist Joe Klein asked him about the divergent paths between him and his brother Roger, a cocaine addict, Clinton said, “Well, there are different sorts of addictions. …”

Divorce, politics and the Clinton ambitions

“Bill Clinton wanted to divorce his wife in 1989 for another woman with whom he had fallen in love but Hillary Clinton forbade it, according to one of two new highly unflattering books about the former First Lady. ‘Tis a pity she’s a commissar – Hillary Clinton’s political drive

“…Her legal writings, her Arkansas practice, and her record in the world of legal activism all show her to be a devout believer in the power of government to transform human lives for the better. Her sense of mission, which this belief inspires, allows her to bend the rules — whether in Whitewater or in organizing the White House Health Care Task Force — with a clear conscience. She is one of nature’s Commissars. Among New Democrats, that makes her a Lenin in a den of Daniels. But it is her ill fortune to come within a heartbeat of power in a conservative age of diminished expectations for centralized power and what government can achieve. …”

Fred Thompson Expects To Beat McCain Not Endorse Him!:Response to Late Breaking Disinformation and Dirty Trick

Posted on January 4, 2008. Filed under: Blogroll, Economics, Immigration, Links, Politics, Quotations, Rants, Raves, Taxes, Uncategorized, Video, War |

There is one former conservative running for President of the United States in 2008 that members of the conservative movement would never vote for–Senator John McCain–whoever endorses him.

Yesterday, a story appeared that I for one found to be unbelieveable–namely that if Fred Thompson comes in third in Iowa, he would drop out and endorse Senator McCain:

Thompson may drop out, back McCain

“…Without a solid third-place finish, there’s no point in going on,” a Thompson adviser said Wednesday. “It was an honorable race, and he turned out to be a good candidate. The moment had just passed.”

A Thompson campaign source said there is “a strong likelihood” that if Thompson comes in a distant third in Iowa, with less than 15 percent of the vote, he would drop out soon — most likely before this weekend’s New Hampshire presidential debates. …”

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0108/7682.html

This story has all the signs of wishful thinking by the far left progressive liberal Democratic Party cadre and their supporters in the mainstream media.

Looks like they must be really scared of Fred Thompson, especially Senator Hillary Clinton.

Do they really believe movement conservatives would vote for Senator McCain given his positions on immigration, taxes, campaign finance reform– in your dreams.

Fred Thompson denies Politico report about dropping out

Team Fred Strongly Denies…

“…The story cites “several Republican officials close to Fred Thompson’s presidential campaign.” Galen told me, “I’m a Republican official in the Thompson campaign, and I’m denying it.” Galen also said that no one inside the campaign was a source for the story. “I can’t put enough adjectives in front of the ‘deny’ to accurately describe how vehemently I’m denying the story,” he said. …”Galen said that “just to make sure,” he checked with Thompson himself, who told him the story was not true. “We have the schedule for Saturday and Sunday in New Hampshire, and then we’re going down to South Carolina,” Galen told me. …”   http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=YTcxZmFmMWM1MmUzODc5MGMzNjUzNGZhNDQ2NWU3YWI=

Russert to Fred: “So no matter what happens in Iowa, it’s on to New Hampshire?”

Fred Thompson: I’m going to beat him. …”

For Thompson, Goal Is to Don Reagan Mantle

“…Some Republicans said that electability in the general election, rather than adherence to a conservative line, might prove to be the most powerful factor in the selection of a nominee. And conservatives who spoke optimistically about Mr. Thompson were as likely to talk about his presentation, and compare it to that of Reagan, as they were to talk of his politics.

“It’s a fair comparison because Fred Thompson’s ability to communicate — his likability — just comes across, and that is what Ronald Reagan had,” said David N. Bossie, president of Citizens United, a conservative group.

Martin Anderson, a longtime associate and a biographer of Reagan, said he liked Mr. Thompson but was baffled by the comparisons to Reagan. When Reagan ran for the presidency, Mr. Anderson said, he laid out a clear agenda of what he intended to do, starting with systematic reductions in taxes. …”

The Next Reagan? (Re: Fred Thompson)

“….Republicans need someone like Ronald Reagan, someone everyone knows, someone everyone likes, someone who is conservative and – most importantly – someone who would hold the presidency for eight years. What qualifications would such a candidate need? He would have to be someone who is very articulate and convincing in front of the camera, someone who exudes confidence, someone who naturally appeals to women voters, someone familiar with the news media, someone who has kept very much in the public eye and yet someone who has been away from the mess in Washington for awhile.

Is there such a man? Yes, there is: Fred Thompson. He has been consistently conservative on social policy and his help in getting John Roberts confirmed as Chief Justice to the Supreme Court was critical. Thompson has a record in the Senate and he voted conservative, according to the American Conservative Union, eighty-six percent of the time.

Although a conservative senator, he is well liked in the Senate. He also knows the Senate very well, although he has not been a member of the Senate for five years. Thompson also supported John McCain in 2000 and was his national co-chair. He has managed to be friendly with McCain and yet a strong supporter of President Bush. In short, he would be a unifier for the entire Republican Party and should receive the strong support of McCain, if Thompson won the nomination. …”

So, if Senator Hillary Clinton comes in third in Iowa, New Hamsphire and South Carolina, will she drop out and endorse John Edwards or Al Gore?

Give me a break.

Hang in their Fred!

The conservative cavalry and money are on their way.

Fred Thompson 2008 — Advocate for the American People and The Voice of America

Posted on January 3, 2008. Filed under: Blogroll, Economics, Immigration, Links, Politics, Raves, Religion, Taxes, Video, War |

Since Barry Goldwater ran for President in 1964 I have been a member of the conservative movement and consider myself to be a classical liberal or libertarian politically.

After carefull consideration of all of the Presidential candidates for 2008 and their positions on the issues, I have finally decided that my first choice is Fred Thompson–Advocate for the American People and The Voice of America.

Should Fred Thompson win the Republican nomination for President of The United States of America, I hope he would unite the Republican party by announcing his American Team or Cabinet and unite the American people by coming out for the FairTax:

Mitt Romney as Vice-President

Alan Keyes as Secretary of State

Mike Huckabee as Secretary of Treasury

John McCain as Secretary of Defense

Rudy Guiliani as Attorney General

Hunter Duncan as Secretary of Homeland Security

Ron Paul as Budget Director

Now that is a fusion ticket that would win all fifty states!

Rush Says Fred Thompson Is Only Real Conservative (Extended)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMZkkKLNibE

How conservative is Fred Thompson?

“…Finally, compared to Mr. Thompson’s lifetime ACU rating of 86.1 and Mr. Frist’s 87.8, worth noting is Arizona Sen. John McCain’s 82.3. Also worth noting are the lifetime ACU ratings of so-called “second-tier” Republican presidential candidates: Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback, 94.0; California Rep. Duncan Hunter, 92.0; Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo, 97.8; and Texas Rep. Ron Paul, 82.3.”

Republican Ideology

Republicans Tend to See Most of Their Leading Presidential Candidates as Politically Moderate or Liberal

“…Thompson is once again seen as the most conservative candidate in the Republican field—50% of Republican voters say he is politically conservative while 39% say moderate or liberal. While Thompson’s campaign has disappointed many of his early supporters and is reportedly low on cash, the perception that he is the most conservative candidate gives him one potential asset heading in to primary season. …”
