“…In many ways, Chicago is still the city that Al Capone built; in today’s Chicago, the “mafia” is still raping the taxpayer and still paying off corrupt officials to look the other way, from top to bottom. For at least the last 50+ years, that “mafia” has been the exclusive domain of the Democrat “bosses”.

Not so long ago, Rahm Emanuel went to “work” for Freddie Mac–you remember them; they were one of the two organizations which almost single-handedly destroyed our economy by forcing banks to make loans to people who could not possibly pay them back. That is not “free markets”. That is abuse of power.

What the media goes out of its way NOT to tell you is that both Fannie and Freddie were run by Democrats who were being payed obscene salaries (funny, no outrage was being expressed in the Congressional witch hunts then…). Then these figurehead “regulators” in turn dutifully contributed heavily to Democrat candidates. In the mob they call this splitting up the loot.

In fact, paying Obama’s Chief of Staff $320,000 to do pretty much nothing is a perfect example of the kind of oversight the Democrats had over those agencies, try as the Republicans did to change that dynamic. Remember the name Franklin Raines?

I could go on, but you get the point; it kind of reminds me of the old days when college football players got paid hundreds of dollars by wealthy almuni for a summer job, for example maybe to water one bush in front of the stadium once per week (wink, wink…).

The Democrats are living The Godfather: destroying the economy is nothing personal; it’s just “business”. After all, if the economy had been allowed to prosper, the Democrats might never have gotten Obama (and Rahm) elected. Their core constituencies (the poor inner city welfare mother, for example) would not need them anymore were those constituencies to suddenly find wealth via initiative and hard work. In other words it can be said that–like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton–Democrats have a Vested Interest in keeping their core constituencies down. Because the minute these people become taxpayers, there would be many reasons to jump ship. The so called governmental “War on Poverty” has been going on since 1965 and LBJ’s “Great Society”. Don’t you think it is time that we bring the troops home; it has been 43 years now and from what I can see, the faster the government grows, the more the “insurgency” is winning.

Short Freddie Mac stay made him at least $320,000

“…In business as in politics, Emanuel has cultivated an aggressive, take-charge reputation that made him rich and propelled his rise to the front of the national stage. But buried deep in corporate and government documents on the Freddie Mac scandal is a little-known and very different story involving Emanuel.

He was named to the Freddie Mac board in February 2000 by Clinton, whom Emanuel had served as White House political director and vocal defender during the Whitewater and Monica Lewinsky scandals.

The board met no more than six times a year. Unlike most fellow directors, Emanuel was not assigned to any of the board’s working committees, according to company proxy statements. Immediately upon joining the board, Emanuel and other new directors qualified for $380,000 in stock and options plus a $20,000 annual fee, records indicate.

On Emanuel’s watch, the board was told by executives of a plan to use accounting tricks to mislead shareholders about outsize profits the government-chartered firm was then reaping from risky investments. The goal was to push earnings onto the books in future years, ensuring that Freddie Mac would appear profitable on paper for years to come and helping maximize annual bonuses for company brass.

The accounting scandal wasn’t the only one that brewed during Emanuel’s tenure.

During his brief time on the board, the company hatched a plan to enhance its political muscle. That scheme, also reviewed by the board, led to a record $3.8 million fine from the Federal Election Commission for illegally using corporate resources to host fundraisers for politicians. Emanuel was the beneficiary of one of those parties after he left the board and ran in 2002 for a seat in Congress from the North Side of Chicago. …”

“…The emergence of Kundra is something that needs more research. There is some indication that Kundra got his jobs in Virginia after being recommended by Aneesh Chopra another professional bureaucrat in Virginia who was apparently his friend from campaign work. On one blog there is a pic of Chopra and Kundra at a boxing match with Indian bigwig Shudkaer Shenoy. The photo was taken in 2008 before either of the two men began with the Obama administration. Since then Chopra was given the job as USA Chief Technology Office (CTO).

It would be logical to assume that Kundra managed to get his buddy Chopra the CTO job despite the fact that Chopra’s technology background is essentially nil.

According to the Chopra bio he’s really never done much outside of government committee work. His academic background shows a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1997. He graduated with a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University in 1994. There is virtually nothing about him anywhere on the net. He has zero technology background except for perhaps using an iPOD, and he is now the country’s Chief Technology Officer.

This seems to be a team of self promoters working together. But exactly how they can be given these jobs along with responsibility for actual technology decisions that involve billions of US taxpayer dollars is incredible. And if Kundra has indeed pumped up his bio with BS, then what does that say about the Obama administration in general. After all, this guy was highly promoted by Obama himself. …”

On announcing Chopra’s nomination, President Obama outlined his aims for the CTO. “As Chief Technology Officer, Chopra’s job will be to promote technological innovation to help the country meet its goals such as job creation, reducing health care costs, and protecting the homeland. Together with Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra, their jobs are to make the government more effective, efficient, and transparent.” ^[2] Chopra’s appointment was confirmed by the Senate on August 7, 2009.^[3] …”

Why Aneesh Chopra is a Great Choice for Federal CTO

“…The news has now been leaked that President Obama intends to nominate Aneesh Chopra as the nation’s first Chief Technology Officer. The Federal CTO will be an assistant to the President, as well as the Associate Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. He will work closely with Vivek Kundra, the recently-named Federal CIO, to develop and implement the President’s ambitious technology agenda.

According to one background document I was given access to, the White House describes the relationship between the CIO and CTO roles as follows:

The responsibilities of the CIO are to use information technology to transform the ways in which the government does business. The CTO will develop national strategies for using advanced technologies to transform our economy and our society, such as fostering private sector innovation, reducing administrative costs and medical errors using health IT, and using technology to change the way teachers teach and students learn.

Some in Silicon Valley have hoped for one of their own, a CTO with a deep technology pedigree and ties to the technology industry. For example, the Techcrunch coverage leads with the title Obama Spurns Silicon Valley. This is a narrow view.

One—can I give you three? (laughs) Here’s how I think about networking. One, you must always carry the spirit of generosity—if I have the capacity to help you, I will, without the presupposition that it will turn into anything. In the best relationships I have formed, I had no idea how I was forming them! It’s the extra phone call on someone’s behalf, or the email you send, or the interview you offer. Two, I believe very deeply about the force of ideas. In networking, if you acknowledge that ideas matter, when you talk to people, you will look at them to identify the brilliant ideas that are embedded in your mind. I don’t care if you’re a basket weaver or a philosopher, often getting to know someone’s force of ideas in one area can naturally translate into another. Three, this is how I approach life: the notion of “true north.” True north means there is objectively a right answer. To find that answer, you must ask the right questions. More government regulation and intervention into the economy is the problem not the solution.

“…The Case Against Network Neutrality

The nation’s largest ISPs, including AT&T, Time Warner, Verizon, Cox Communications Inc. and Comcast, are the strongest network-neutrality opponents. Yet these firms steadfastly deny that they are trying to hijack the Internet, as some as their critics claim.

The ISPs insist that their primary interest is simply to ensure better and more reliable service by prioritizing content to meet their customers’ needs. They also state that their actions are essential to comprehensive Internet security; they must prevent outlaw services from taking advantage of customers through illegal Net activities, such as phishing sites and intellectual-property-robbing peer-to-peer file-sharing services. Many neutrality opponents also believe they should be able to charge Web-site operators, especially high-bandwidth services like video streamers, for the right to use the ISP’s portion of the network, which feeds content directly to customers.

Neutrality opponents assert that any government measures directed at promoting a so-called “even playing field” would unnecessarily meddle with Net activities and, in effect, place the government in charge of critical aspects of the Web’s design and operation. Such interference, opponents claim, would stifle Internet growth, hinder the roll out of broadband access and tilt the market toward businesses that use the most bandwidth yet pay the least for network costs within a neutral environment.

The Case for Network Neutrality

Supporters of network neutrality include the businesses that have the most to gain from a neutral Internet — companies such as Amazon.com, Google, Yahoo! Inc., Microsoft and Facebook. Also backing the cause are the editorial boards of several major newspapers, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle and San Jose Mercury News. Organizations such as the American Library Association, Gun Owners of America, Christian Coalition of America and Consumers Union, as well as Internet pioneer Vint Cerf, are also carrying the “free Internet” banner.

Network-neutrality proponents claim that rather than protecting their customers’ interests, ISPs are trying to squash competition in order to benefit their own Internet services, including email, IP telephony, search technology, news and information content aggregation, classified advertising, and social networking. They argue that by attempting to monopolize both access and content, such firms are essentially “double-dipping.”

According to network-neutrality advocates, the loss of a free and open Internet would lead to less innovation, since individuals and small startups buckle under new service and cost restrictions imposed by ISPs. The biggest losers in this situation will be consumers, who will inevitably face fewer service choices and higher fees, argue neutrality supporters. The national business and financial climate will also suffer, they allege, as Internet innovation and growth slows. …”
