Poe is the author or editor of a number of books on early modern Russia, and the founder and editor of MemoryArchive, a universal wiki-type archive of contemporary memoirs he began with his students at American University in 2005. There he has contributed numerous personal accounts of his own, from playing basketball with Barack Obama, to stumbling onto a Dennis Rader (the infamous BTK killer) crime scene.
