Colin Powell slams Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell takes aim at Sarah Palin and the Republican party’s emphasis on small-town values during an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakharia.

In an upcoming interview on CNN this Sunday, General Powell states that the Republican Party lost the election in November because it went further to the right with the selection of Govenor Palin as the Vice President candidate.

The reason the Republican Party has had significant losses in the last two elections is because the Party went left and abandoned conservative and libertarian principles of fiscal responsibility and smaller government.

If the Republican Party follows the General’s advice, it will continue to lose elections.

Without a conservative on the ticket such as Governor Sarah Palin, the Democratic Party would have won a landslide victory in 2008.

A conservative at the top of the ticket would have beat Senator Obama in 2008.

The Republican Party must move right, far right, if it is to again win elections as it did with the late President Ronald Reagan.

Otherwise, it runs the serious risk of being replaced by a new conservative party, call it the American Citizens Alliance Party or ACAP for short.

Movement conservatives are saying nuts to the liberal losers, phoney conservatives and neoconservatives in the Republican Party.

Move on General Powell to the Democratic Party, conservatives are no longer listening to your advice.

For the record, I would have voted for General Powell  had he ran for President in 1996 or even 2000.

Now General Powell is history for me and many in the conservative movement.

The betrayal of both the Republican Party and Senator McCain last October by General Powell’s endorsement of Barack Obama–a Radical Socialist–was the last straw.

Face  it General you are an elitist and big government progressive.

Battle of The Bulge

“The Ardennes Offensive (16 December 1944 – 25 January 1945) was a major German offensive launched towards the end of World War II through the forested Ardennes Mountains region of Belgium, France and Luxembourg on the Western Front. The offensive was called Unternehmen Wacht am Rhein (Translated as Operation The Guard on the Rhine or Operation “Watch on the Rhine.”) by the German armed forces (Wehrmacht). This German offensive was officially named the Battle of the Ardennes[2] or the Ardennes-Alsace campaign[3] by the U.S. Army[4], but it is known to the general public simply as the Battle of the Bulge. The “bulge” was the initial incursion the Germans put into the Allies’ line of advance, as seen in maps presented in contemporary newspapers.

The German offensive was supported by subordinate operations known as Unternehmen Bodenplatte, Unternehmen Greif, and Unternehmen Währung. Germany’s planned goal for these operations was to split the British and American Allied line in half, capturing Antwerp, Belgium, and then proceeding to encircle and destroy four Allied armies, forcing the Western Allies to negotiate a peace treaty in the Axis Powers’ favour.[5]

The Germans planned the offensive with utmost secrecy, minimizing radio traffic and conducting the movement of troops and equipment under cover of darkness. Although ULTRA suggested a possible attack and the Third U.S. Army’s intelligence staff predicted a major German offensive, the Germans still achieved surprise. This was achieved by a combination of Allied overconfidence, preoccupation with their own offensive plans, poor aerial reconnaissance, and the relative lack of combat contact by the First United States Army in an area considered a “quiet sector”. Almost complete surprise against a weak section of the Allies’ line was achieved during heavy overcast weather, when the Allies’ strong air forces would be grounded.

German objectives ultimately were unrealized. In the wake of the defeat, many experienced German units were left severely depleted of men and equipment, as survivors retreated to the defences of the Siegfried Line. The Battle of the Bulge was the bloodiest of the battles that U.S. forces experienced in World War II; the 19,000 American dead were unsurpassed by those of any other engagement[citation needed] …”

Siege of Bastogne

“The Siege of Bastogne was a smaller battle in and around the Belgian town of Bastogne, during the larger Battle of the Bulge. Success of the German offensive, seizure of the harbor at Antwerp with encirclement and destruction of Allied armies, required the German Army mechanized forces to use the roadways in order to maintain the speed of the offensive. All seven main roads in the Ardennes mountain range converged on the small town of Bastogne. Control of the crossroads of Bastogne was vital to the Germans to speed up their advance and improve resupply of the German columns, as the poor weather conditions made cross country travel difficult. The battle lasted from mid-December 1944 to January 1945. …”
