Bob Seger
“…Robert Clarke Seger (born May 6, 1945) is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist.
As a locally successful Detroit-area artist, he performed and recorded as The Bob Seger System throughout the 1960s. By the early 1970s, he had dropped the “System” from his recordings, and he continued to strive for national success with other various bands. In 1973 he put together “The Silver Bullet Band,” an evolving group of Detroit-area musicians, with whom he became most successful. In 1976, he achieved national fame with two albums, the live record Live Bullet, and the studio record Night Moves. On his studio albums he also worked extensively with the Alabama-based Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, appearing on several of Seger’s best selling singles and albums.
A roots rocker with a classic raspy, shouting voice, Seger was first inspired by Little Richard and Elvis Presley, along with James Brown.[1] He wrote and recorded songs that dealt with blue-collar themes. Seger has recorded many rock and roll hits, including “Night Moves”, “Turn the Page”, and “Like a Rock”, and also co-wrote the Eagles number one hit “Heartache Tonight”. His iconic signature song “Old Time Rock and Roll” was named one of the Songs of the Century in 2001. With a career spanning five decades, Seger continues to perform and record today.
“Old Time Rock & Roll” charted #2 as most played Jukebox Singles of all Time, second only to Patsy Cline’s “Crazy”.
Seger’s songs have been covered by many artists including Thin Lizzy and Metallica.
Seger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. …”
“…Recent Works & 2011 Tour
In October 2009, Yessian Music reported on its social networking sites that Seger was re-recording his albums Smokin’ O.P.’s and Seven. On October 25, 2009 it was revealed that Seger indeed had done some re-recording of older songs for an upcoming compilation album entitled Early Seger Vol. 1,[11] a collection of out of print songs and also previously unreleased material. The album was released on November 24, 2009, initially exclusively available for purchase at Meijer. A week later it was available for download at BobSeger.com.[12]
Seger lives mainly at his home in Orchard Lake Village, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. He frequents many local events including West Bloomfield High School football games to watch his son who is in the nationally-ranked marching band. Seger also has a vacation house near Good Hart, Michigan.
Seger made an announcement on 26 March during an interview with Dick Purtan on Detroit’s WOMC-FM that he plans to tour in late 2010. These concerts will be Seger’s first since 2007′s 50-stop US tour which followed the release of his last album Face the Promise.
Seger contributed piano and vocals on Kid Rock’s 2010 album Born Free. Alongside Seger, the album also featured Sheryl Crow, Zac Brown Band, and Martina Mcbride among others.
On January 25th and 26th, videos were uploaded to Seger’s official Facebook page (and later on his official website) and teased older Seger songs while lying under a blurred screen, a map of the U.S. with 5 noted states highlighted, and a message at the end saying “Stay Tuned to BobSeger.com.” On January 27th, Seger made an announcement on his official website of a 2011 Tour subjected to kick off in March 2011. In a Rolling Stone article, additional information was added saying that Seger had 20-30 dates already booked and was expected to tour again in the Fall. In other news, the same article noted that Seger had been recording non-stop since the end of the Face the Promise tour and that a new album was currently in the works, and Seger was satisfied with over half of it already. It was also stated that Seger would be sampling a few songs from the forthcoming record during the first leg of the tour in hopes of having the album released shortly before, during, or after the tour, hinting at a Summer 2011 release.
On March 2, 2011, Seger released the first single from his forthcoming album, Downtown Train, a Tom Waits cover. …”

Bob Seger Biography
“…Seger’s first new album in 11 years, titled Face the Promise, was released in 2006. In its first 45 days, the album sold more than 400,000 copies. The album has sold over 1 million copies to date and stayed on the Billboard chart for months. His supporting tour was also eagerly anticipated, with many shows selling out within minutes. Showing that Seger’s legendary appeal in Michigan had not diminished, all 15,000 tickets available for his first show at Grand Rapids’ Van Andel Arena sold out in under five minutes; three additional shows were subsequently added, each of which also sold out. …”

“…At a townhall meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Rep. Allen West fields a question about what it would take to raise the debt ceiling. West responds he would do it on four conditions:
1) Pass a balanced budget amendment;
2) Cap federal government spending at 20% of GDP;
3) Reduce the corporate tax rate to 25% from 35% to lure jobs back to America; and
4) Trigger control mechanism that would spur automatic cuts every time the debt ceiling was almost reached in the future. …”

Allen West: No Interest in Being on 2012 GOP Ticket
By Jim Geraghty
“…Rep. Allen West’s, R-Fla., disinterest in the 2012 GOP ticket is positively refreshing:
In an interview Saturday evening on ‘Conservative Republican Forum’, with hosts Steven Rosenblum and Daria DiGiovanni, Republican Congressman Allen West (FL-22) was asked if he was thinking at all of running for President or Vice-President in 2012. His response was, “Well of course not.” He went on to say, “It’s so important that we as conservatives avoid the cult of personality style of leadership. But we really do elevate people based upon merit and talent. And, you know, I have to prove myself as an American statesman, as a political leader, and not just someone that is able to, you know give some good speeches. I have to be able to get up there and create legislation and get legislation pushed though and make myself a game changer on the House floor.”
West also argued against the “entitlement mentality” in the nomination process, and said that, “We cannot continue to have the model of Bob Dole against Bill Clinton or John McCain against Barack Obama. We’ve got to do something totally different.” …”

His father and older brother were both career military officers: His father served in World War II, and his brother served in Vietnam.[7] His mother was a civilian employee of the United States Marine Corps. Reminder from CBP: Kinder Eggs Banned From Import Into U.S.
“…As the Easter holiday approaches, U.S. Customs and Border Protection would like to remind the traveling public that Kinder Eggs, a popular chocolate treat, is banned from being imported into the U.S.
In fiscal year 2010, CBP seized nearly 25,000 Kinder Eggs in 1,700 separate incidents. While there are some commercial-sized seizures that occur, most Kinder Eggs are seized in personal baggage or at mail and express consignment facilities.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued an import alert for Kinder Eggs, because they are a confectionery product with a non-nutritive object imbedded in it. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission considers the toys within the eggs as presently imported and sold to violate CPSC’s small parts regulation with respect to children under three. ( Import Alert 34-02 )
CBP works in close collaboration with the CPSC and the FDA to ensure the safety of imported goods by examining, sampling and testing products that may present import safety hazards. These partner agencies are now working along-side one another at the Import Safety Commercial Targeting and Analysis Center to streamline and enhance federal efforts to address import safety issues, such as the illegal importation of Kinder Eggs.
CBP’s CTAC combines the resources and manpower from various government agencies to protect the American public from harm caused by unsafe imported products by improving communication and information-sharing and reducing redundant inspection activities. The CTAC reflects the three core principles announced by the President’s Food Safety Working Group: Prevention, Surveillance and Response.

ChocoTreasure Easter
Kinder Surprise knockoff: Choco Treasure
“…The theory in my world is: You don’t see KinderSurprise eggs much in America is because American kids don’t realize they’re not supposed to eat the prize. Okay, and some of the you-build-it surprises inside have tiny parts. Wikipedia confirms my suspicion: “Kinder Eggs are sold all over the world excluding the United States, where the 1938 Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act prohibits embedding “non-nutritive items” in confections. … Kinder Egg-like confections are available, but only in a plastic form filled with small candies and/or stickers. There are some stores in the United States that sell genuine Kinder Eggs, often in conjunction with other imported British or other European sweets, although their import is illegal due to the 1938 law and 1997 recall.”
And so this brings us to what’s on the shelf of a major NW supermarket, ChocoTreasure, made in China but distributed by a company in Jersey City, New Jersey. …”

Kinder Surprise
“…Kinder Surprise, also known as a Kinder Egg or, in the original Italian, Kinder Sorpresa,[1] is a confection manufactured by Italian company Ferrero. Originally intended for children, it has the form of a chocolate egg containing a small toy, often requiring assembly.
Kinder Surprise originated in 1972 in Italy as Kinder Sorpresa. The German word “Kinder” in the name came about because in 1967, Ferrero’s German subsidiary introduced Kinder Chocolate (“Kinderschokolade”) to the German market, and in 1968 that product was introduced to Ferrero’s native Italy, establishing the “Kinder” brand there, prior to the introduction of the Kinder Sorpresa chocolate eggs. Kinder Surprise eggs were introduced to the German market in 1974, and for many years this was the largest market for the product.
The toys are designed by both inside designers and external freelancers (for example the French artist André Roche based in Munich) and manufactured by many companies worldwide, such as Produzioni Editoriali Aprile, a small company based in Turin, Italy, run and founded by two brothers, Ruggero and Valerio Aprile.
Kinder Eggs are sold all over the world excluding the United States, where the 1938 Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act prohibits embedding “non-nutritive items” in confections. Additionally, the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall on the eggs in 1997 (mostly via import shops).
Speculation that this recall was the result of lobbying by Nestlé to eliminate a competitor has been fomented by previous versions of this very Wikipedia article, which stated that the recall was “likely as a consequence of the introduction of the rival Nestlé Wonderball product featuring Disney characters”. However, the New York Times article cited as proof of this discusses only Nestle’s decision to withdraw its own similar product from the market subsequently, and the only lobbying it refers to is that by Nestlé in an attempt to “write new regulations allowing them to sell the product.”.[2] Nestlé’s lobbying at that point, if successful, would have had the effect of legalizing its products as well as the Kinder Egg. Similar confections are presently available, but only in a plastic form filled with small candies and/or stickers. There are some stores in the United States that sell genuine Kinder Eggs, often in conjunction with other imported British or other European sweets, although their import is illegal due to the 1938 law and 1997 recall.[3]
In Europe, their popularity has spread beyond their intended market, and they have become a minor cult phenomenon among adults. There is even a thriving collector’s market for the toys. This is especially true in Germany, where the manufacturer includes higher-quality toys than those available elsewhere (more details below). There are many types of toys available, but some of the most popular with collectors include the ever-changing series of small hand-painted figures (some have to be assembled), which are said to be in every seventh egg (ad slogan: “Jetzt in jedem siebten Ei”); cartoon characters (sometimes called “stick figures”, which is a mistranslation of the German “Steckfiguren”); metal figures and jigsaw puzzles. Seasonal eggs are introduced around the holidays, such as the limited-edition creche collections (featuring such characters as the three kings, baby Jesus, and assorted barnyard animals) found around Christmas, and the huge ones found at Easter (extremely popular in Italy).
A relatively new innovation, triggered by the advent of the Internet, is the introduction of “Internet surprises”. Accompanying the toy is a small slip of paper containing a “Magicode”. This code gives access to games at the Magic Kinder website, some for downloading, some for playing online. …”

Fed Takes Foot Off the Gas
By JON HILSENRATH And LUCA DI LEO
“…The Federal Reserve used its first-ever news conference to signal it will phase out a controversial bond-buying program—and to reassure a skeptical public that the central bank is doing everything it can to control inflation and expand an uneven recovery that has yet to reach many Americans.
WSJ’s Kelly Evans leads a discussion breaking down Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke’s first-ever press conference.
“It is very hard to blame the American public for being impatient,” Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, a former economics professor, told about 60 reporters at Wednesday’s one-hour news conference, which was transmitted on the Internet and televised. “Conditions are far from where we would like them to be. The combination of high unemployment, high gas prices and high foreclosure rates is a terrible combination and a lot of people are having a very tough time.”
Mr. Bernanke said the central bank would complete its $600 billion bond-buying program in June, as planned, and maintain ultra-low interest-rates for the now.
Amid 8.8% unemployment, a moribund housing market, and rising gas and food prices, the Fed chairman took his message directly to the public.
He aimed in part to better explain the thinking within a central bank whose reputation has been bruised by the recession and its aftermath. That reputation is especially important right now, because Mr. Bernanke needs to convince the public that he won’t let inflation take off after pushing interest rates to near zero or employ unconventional measures, such as the bond-buying program, to boost growth.
By ending the bond purchases, the Fed has effectively decided that it won’t do more to boost growth, even though the economy appeared to stumble during the first quarter. Fed officials now will turn their attention to when the central bank might start raising interest rates. Mr. Bernanke made clear he isn’t inclined to do that for a long time, unless the inflation outlook worsens. …”

Economic Growth Slow as Inflation Measure Spikes Up
“…Growth in U.S. gross domestic product—a measure of all goods and services produced within U.S. borders—braked to a 1.8 percent annual rate after a 3.1 percent fourth quarter pace, the Commerce Department said on Thursday. Economists had expected a 2 percent growth pace.
“We hit a bit of a soft patch in the first quarter, but that should prove temporary because weather was a drag and we got blindsided a bit by a jump in gasoline prices late in the quarter,” said Ryan Sweet, a senior economist at Moody’s Analytics before the report was released.
The Federal Reserve on Wednesday acknowledged the slowdown in first-quarter growth, describing the recovery as proceeding at a “moderate pace”—a slight step back from a statement in March when it said the economy was on a “firmer footing.”
It trimmed its growth estimate for 2011 to between 3.1 and 3.3 percent from a 3.4 to 3.9 percent January projection. …”
“…Rising commodity prices meant the households that drive about 70 percent of U.S. economic activity had less money to spend on other items. The report also underscored the pain that strong food and gasoline prices are inflicting on households.
A broader measure of inflation, the personal consumption expenditures price index, rose at a 3.8 percent rate—its fastest pace since the third quarter of 2008—after increasing 1.7 percent in the fourth quarter.
The core index, which excludes food and energy costs, accelerated to a 1.5 percent rate—the fastest since the fourth quarter of 2009 — from 0.4 percent in the fourth quarter. The core gauge is closely watched by Fed officials, who would like it around 2 percent. …”

Someone At WordPress Is Censoring My Post On Ron Paul–Shame On WordPress–Videos
Today I posted a rather long post on the recent announcement by Ron Paul that he was forming an exploratory committee to see if he should run for President of the United States in 2012.
Someone at WordPress has twice used either a script and/or CSS to hide my post.
The first time none of my post could be seen even in edit view.
Fortunately, I had a copy of the post and reposted it.
I also added a number of Ron Paul related previous posts at the bottom of the page under the heading Related Posts At Pronk Palisades.
These links were not appearing after I reposted the post.
Apparently, someone at WordPress was inserting a header with an id attribute with a number that hides the display of the links using an external cascading style sheet (CSS).
I deleted this html markup and the links worked fine.
Several hours later, I returned to the blog post to again find the entire post not being displayed once again.
At least this time I could see my post in edit view.
This is the third time one of my post has been censored by WordPress.
WordPress is also deleting or hiding links to past posts as well.
Once it encounters a link to post that it wants to censor, anything after the post link is hidden or deleted as well.
I am calling out WordPress for this inappropriate behavior.
Shame on them.
WordPress should investigate this situation and take appropriate action against the employee who is doing this.
WordPress should also apologize to the WordPress community for I strongly suspect that this is not an isolated incident and that I am not the only one that is experiencing this.
I will again post the earlier post to see what happens.
My original post is now being displayed for now and the post is displayed below as well.
I have added some additional material to the original post.
I await a communication from WordPress as to what is going on!

My political philosophy is classical liberalism.
In America a classical liberal is commonly identified as a libertarian and occasionally a conservative.
Classical liberals or libertarians favor a government that is limited in both size and scope and takes the form of a constitutional republic.
I became a classical liberal when Senator Barry Goldwater ran for President in 1964 when I read his book, The Conscience of A Conservative.
Mr. Conservative: Goldwater On Goldwater
Barry Goldwater, A True Conservative
The Conscience Of A Conservative
Freedom is the Only Solution
Ever since I have considered myself a member of the conservative movement and a traditional libertarian.
Today I am an independent and support the tea party movement and their candidates for public office.
Senator Barry Goldwater lost to President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964 for the office of President of The United States.
President Johnson was largely responsible for America’s war in Vietnam, the war on poverty and socialized medicine, namely Medicare.
The Democrats lost both the war in Vietnam and the war on poverty.
Socialized medicine in the form of Medicare while still popular with American people, Medicare is running massive deficits that will only become larger as the baby boom generation turn age 65 and becomes eligible for Medicare starting in 2011.
Today Medicare is actually costing more than ten times the estimated cost when it was originally passed in 1965.
Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid must be reformed and controlled and owned by the individual and not by the Federal Government.
Otherwise Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid will become insolvent and the promises made to the American people broken.

The Very Best of Ronald Reagan
The only Presidential candidate that I trust to do the right thing in addressing the above issues is Ron Paul.
The only Presidential candidate that has consistently supported a constitutional republic is Ron Paul.
The only Presidential candidate that has consistently voted for limited government in both size and scope is Ron Paul.
The only Presidential candidate that has consistently opposed government interventionism in the economy at home and nation building abroad is Ron Paul.
If you want to return the United States of America to a peace and prosperity economy with a constitutional republic, support and vote for Ron Paul.
If you want the continuation of the United States of America’s warfare and welfare economy with a collectivist tyrannical state, you will have many choices from both the Democratic and Republican parties.
I plan to support and vote for Ron Paul in 2012.
I hope and pray he gets the Republican nomination as their candidate for President of the United States of America.
I hope and pray that Ron Paul and the Republican Party choose Michele Backmann as his running mate for Vice-President of the United States.

Ron Paul Launches Presidential Campaign
“…Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, whose outspoken libertarian views and folksy style made him a cult hero during two previous presidential campaigns, will announce on Tuesday that he’s going to try a third time.
Sources close to Paul, who is in his 12th term in the House, said he will unveil an exploratory presidential committee, a key step in gearing up for a White House race. He will also unveil the campaign’s leadership team in Iowa, where the first votes of the presidential election will be cast in caucuses next year.
Paul, 75, ran as the Libertarian Party candidate in 1988, finishing with less than one half a percent of the vote. After more than a decade as a Republican congressman, Paul gave it another shot in the 2008 presidential election, gaining attention for being the only Republican candidate calling for the end to the war in Iraq and for his “money bomb” fundraising strategy, which brought in millions of dollars from online donors in single-day pushes.
Paul took 10 percent of the vote in the Iowa caucuses and 8 percent in New Hampshire’s primary. He finished second, with 14 percent of the vote, in the Nevada caucuses, and eventually finished fourth in the Republican nominating process with 5.6 percent of the total vote. Paul’s campaign book, The Revolution: A Manifesto also reached No. 1 on The New York Times best-seller list in 2008. …”

2012 Presidential bid: Third time could be the charm for Ron Paul
“…Republican Congressman Ron Paul is expected to announce the formation of a presidential exploratory committee on Tuesday, a key step in any bid for the White House and a third attempt for the White House from the congressman.
They say the third time is the charm, and one likely does not need to tell that to Republican congressman Ron Paul. However, on Tuesday Mr. Paul intends to announce the formation of his presidential exploratory committee, according to a National Journalreport.
Congressman Paul, active in his twelfth term as a House legislator and known for his decidedly Libertarian views, will make a third run for the White House in what appears to be shaping up to be a considerably crowded Republican presidential contest.
“Paul, 75, ran as the Libertarian Party candidate in 1988, finishing with less than one half a percent of the vote,” Cameron Joseph reported for the National Journal. “After more than a decade as a Republican congressman, Paul gave it another shot in the 2008 presidential election, gaining attention for being the only Republican candidate calling for the end to the war in Iraq and for his ‘money bomb’ fundraising strategy, which brought in millions of dollars from online donors in single-day pushes.”
Mr. Paul has been an influential voice for a new generation of Republicans in Congress, and many of his positions have been attributed to Tea Party sentiments that have managed to make their way into mainstream Republican discourse and have posed a considerable challenge to the Obama administration and the remaining Democratic majority in the Senate following the 2010 mid-term elections this past November.

Medicare
“…Medicare is a social insurance program administered by the United States government, providing health insurance coverage to people who are aged 65 and over, or who meet other special criteria. Medicare operates similarly to a single-payer health care system.[1]
The program also funds residency training programs for the vast majority of physicians in the United States.
The Social Security Act of 1965 was signed into law on July 30, 1965, by President Lyndon B. Johnson as amendments to existing Social Security legislation. At the bill-signing ceremony, Johnson enrolled former President Harry S. Truman as the first Medicare beneficiary and presented him with the first Medicare card, and Truman’s wife Bess, the second.[2] …”
“…Costs and funding challenges
The costs of Medicare doubled every four years between 1966 and 1980.[47] According to the 2004 “Green Book” of the House Ways and Means Committee, Medicare expenditures from the American government were $256.8 billion in fiscal year 2002. Beneficiary premiums are highly subsidized, and net outlays for the program, accounting for the premiums paid by subscribers, were $230.9 billion.
Medicare spending is growing steadily in both absolute terms and as a percentage of the federal budget. Total Medicare spending reached $440 billion for fiscal year 2007 or 16% of all federal spending and grew to $599 billion in 2008 which was 20% of federal spending.[48] The only larger categories of federal spending are Social Security and defense. Given the current pattern of spending growth, maintaining Medicare’s financing over the long-term may well require significant changes.[49]
According to the 2008 report by the board of trustees for Medicare and Social Security, Medicare will spend more than it brings in from taxes this year (2008). The Medicare hospital insurance trust fund will become insolvent by 2019.[49][50][51][52] Shortly after the release of the report, the Chief Actuary testified that the insolvency of the system could be pushed back by 18 months if Medicare Advantage plans that provide more health care services than traditional Medicare and pass savings onto beneficiaries were paid at the same rate as the traditional fee-for-service program. He also testified that the 10-year cost of Medicare drug benefit is 37% lower than originally projected in 2003, and 17% percent lower than last year’s projections.[53] The New York Times wrote in January 2009 that Social Security and Medicare “have proved almost sacrosanct in political terms, even as they threaten to grow so large as to be unsustainable in the long run.”[54]
Spending on Medicare and Medicaid is projected to grow dramatically in coming decades. While the same demographic trends that affect Social Security also affect Medicare, rapidly rising medical prices appear a more important cause of projected spending increases. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has indicated that: “Future growth in spending per beneficiary for Medicare and Medicaid—the federal government’s major health care programs—will be the most important determinant of long-term trends in federal spending. Changing those programs in ways that reduce the growth of costs—which will be difficult, in part because of the complexity of health policy choices—is ultimately the nation’s central long-term challenge in setting federal fiscal policy.” Further, the CBO also projects that “total federal Medicare and Medicaid outlays will rise from 4 percent of GDP in 2007 to 12 percent in 2050 and 19 percent in 2082—which, as a share of the economy, is roughly equivalent to the total amount that the federal government spends today. The bulk of that projected increase in health care spending reflects higher costs per beneficiary rather than an increase in the number of beneficiaries associated with an aging population.”[55]

The Conscience of a Conservative
“…The Conscience of a Conservative is a book published under the name of Arizona Senator and 1964 Republican presidential candidate Barry Goldwater in 1960. The book reignited the American conservative movement and made Barry Goldwater a political star. The book has influenced countless conservatives in the United States, helping to lay the foundation for the Reagan Revolution in 1980.[1]
The book was ghostwritten by L. Brent Bozell Jr., brother-in-law of William F. Buckley.[1] Bozell and Buckley had been members of Yale’s debate team. They had co-authored the controversial book, McCarthy and His Enemies, in 1955. Bozell had been Goldwater’s speechwriter in the 1950s, and was familiar with many of his ideals. The first edition, 1960, is 123 pages in length and was published in the United States. The book covers such topics as education, labor unions and policies, civil rights, agricultural policy and farm subsidies, social welfare programs, and income taxation. The tea party movement’s budget would require the Federal Government to have a balanced or surplus budget in every fiscal year starting in 2012 with a declining national debt starting in Fiscal Year 2017.
Neither the Republican nor Democratic Party is capable of living within the means of the American people.
The Republicans are proposing a budget for Fiscal Year 2012 of $3,618 billion compared with the President Obama’s $3,729 billion.
This results in a deficit of $995 billion for the Republican budget and $1,101 billion for President Obama’s budget.
As the above tables clearly show, neither party is capable of balancing the budget in the next ten years. Actually, both parties budgets do not balance until Fiscal Year 2040 at the earliest!
The above budgets are needed to support a warfare and welfare economy with a collectivist state.
The above budgets are not a pathway to a peace and prosperity economy with a constitutional republic.
The budget needs to be balanced starting in fiscal year 2012 at $2,500 billion or less.
The tea party movement demands that from here on out that all budgets be either balanced or in surplus with no tax increases.
Before either political party attempts to reform so-called entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid, the tea party movement demands that ten Federal Departments be permanently closed and the budgets of remaining Federal Departments be reduced by 25%.

There Are too Many Bureaucrats and They Are Paid too Much
Eight Reasons Why Big Government Hurts Economic Growth
The Empirical Evidence Against Big Government
Neither political party is serious about balancing the budget and cutting Federal government spending in the next thirty years, if then.
The so-called fight about the National Debt statutory ceiling or debt is a farce. They periodically increase it when they need to.
Both parties will agree to increase the National Debt Ceiling by over $1,000 billion to cover just the Fiscal Year 2011 deficit.
The American people are waking up to this big con game to protect the size and scope of the Federal Government, the bureaucracy, and the political establishment.
Neither party is advocating the closing of a single Federal Department when ten need to be closed permanently to balance the budget.
Run for Congress if you are tired of the lying and spinning of both political parties in Washington, D.C.

Eva Cassidy’s Voice Was Pure and Rich With Emotion. When She Died Five Years Ago,That Might Have Been the End of the Story. But Her Music Has Lived On, and Now It’s Making Her a Star.
By Sherri Dalphonse
“…When radio stations play Eva, their switchboards light up. Many callers say they were in their car when they first heard her and had to pull over to cry.
“Eva evokes that kind of reaction. Not just ‘She’s good’ but ‘Who the heck is that?’ ” says Keith Grimes, who was a guitarist in the Eva Cassidy Band.
Cassidy had great control, phrasing, and range. She was petite—five-foot-two—but could belt out a bluesy “People Get Ready” as easily as she could sing a delicate tune like “Autumn Leaves.” Some who heard this soulful Scotch-Irish-German woman thought she was black.
It’s more than Cassidy’s technical skill that grabs people. It’s the sense as she sang that she was reaching from her heart to her listener’s.
“There are singers that have great instruments but are just singing the notes,” says Grace Griffith, a friend and local chanteuse. “Other singers have emotion but not the instrument. Eva had both.”
No song speaks to this expressiveness as much as her rendition of “Over the Rainbow.” Cassidy, who loved the Wizard of Oz books as a child, breathed new life into an old song about hope and longing.
An amateur video of Eva shot at Blues Alley, her face full of feeling as she sings “Over the Rainbow,” is largely responsible for the big sales in England. It’s just about the most requested video in BBC history. …”

Singer: Eva Cassidy
“…Eva Cassidy’s music has made its way from iPod to iPod by enthusiastic word of mouth. Sadly, it can’t be spread any other way. Eva died in 1996 of a melanoma at the way-too-young age of 33.
What an incredible voice. I heard about Eva from a travel forum on which people posted their island playlists. I hadn’t heard of her, so I went to iTunes and listened to my allotted twenty seconds of some of her songs. That’s all it took – twenty seconds of Eva’s voice – to make me a fan for life.
Her version of “Over the Rainbow” is just unbelievable. A British d.j., Terry Wogan, happened to hear it several years after Eva’s death, and like almost everyone else, was blown away. So were his listeners. When a low-res video of Eva singing the song was played on Britain’s Top of the Pops 2 TV show, the song went to number one on the U.K. charts. …”

Eva Marie Cassidy
“…Eva Marie Cassidy (February 2, 1963 – November 2, 1996) was an American vocalist known for her interpretations of jazz, blues, folk, gospel, country and pop classics. In 1992 she released her first album, The Other Side, a set of duets with go-go musician Chuck Brown, followed by a live solo album, Live at Blues Alley in 1996. Although she had been honored by the Washington Area Music Association, she was virtually unknown outside her native Washington, D.C. when she died of melanoma in 1996.
Four years later, Cassidy’s music was brought to the attention of British audiences when her version of “Over the Rainbow” was played by Terry Wogan on BBC Radio 2. Following the overwhelming response, a camcorder recording of “Over the Rainbow”, taken at the Blues Alley, was shown on BBC Two’s Top of the Pops 2. Shortly afterwards, the compilation album Songbird climbed to the top of the UK Albums Charts, almost three years after its initial release. The chart success in the United Kingdom and Ireland led to increased recognition worldwide; her posthumously released recordings, including three UK #1s, have sold more than ten million copies.[1] Her music has also charted top 10 positions in Australia, Germany, Sweden, Norway and Switzerland.[2] …”

A Tribute to KODACHROME: A Photography Icon
“…They say all good things in life come to an end. Today we announced that Kodak will retire KODACHROME Film, concluding its 74-year run.
It was a difficult decision, given its rich history. At the end of the day, photographers have told us and showed us they’ve moved on to newer other Kodak films and/or digital. KODACHROME Film currently represents a fraction of one percent of our film sales. We at Kodak want to celebrate with you the rich history of this storied film. Feel free to share with us your fondest memories of Kodachrome. …”

- Kodachrome-Paul Simon
Lyrics:
When I think back
On all the crap I learned in high school
It’s a wonder
I can think at all
And though my lack of edu—cation
Hasn’t hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall
Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world’s a sunny day, Oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
If you took all the girls I knew
When I was single
And brought them all together for one night
I know they’d never match
my sweet imagination
everything looks WORSE in black and white
Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world’s a sunny day, Oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome
Leave your boy so far from home
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Paul Simon – Kodachrome
Background Articles and Videos
The origin of Paul Simon’s “Kodachrome”
Kodachrome“
“Kodachrome” is a song written and recorded by Paul Simon. It appeared on his 1973 album There Goes Rhymin’ Simon.
Description
The song is named after the Kodak 35mm film Kodachrome. For the week ending May 19, 1973, Kodachrome made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart and five weeks later, the song moved to number nine, just ahead of the song Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree by Dawn featuring Tony Orlando and just behind Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) by George Harrison.[1] The song then became a major hit in the United States, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart[2] as well as the Billboard adult contemporary chart,[3] but it was not released as a single in Britain because, according to American Top 40 host Casey Kasem, the British Broadcasting Corporation would not play the trademarked name.
Eastman Kodak Co. required the album to note that Kodachrome is a trademark of Kodak, and to include the registered trademark symbol (®) after the song’s title. In the late 1990s, Kodak used the song in commercials to sell film.
The lyrics on There Goes Rhymin’ Simon differed in wording from those on the The Concert in Central Park and Paul Simon’s Concert in the Park, August 15, 1991 albums. The former said, “…everything looks worse in black and white,” but the latter said, “…everything looks better in black and white.”
Development
In an interview conducted in November 2008, Paul said that what he had in mind when he was writing the song was to call it “Going Home”. However, finding that this would have been “too conventional”, he came up with “Kodachrome”, because of its similar sound and larger innovative potential. He also refers to its first line as apparently the “most interesting” part of the song.[4] The first line runs, “When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school, it’s a wonder I can think at all.”
The song was featured in the films Coneheads and Cops & Robbersons. …”

“….Credit Ratings Definitions & FAQs
Credit ratings are forward-looking opinions about credit risk. Standard & Poor’s credit ratings express the agency’s opinion about the ability and willingness of an issuer, such as a corporation or state or city government, to meet its financial obligations in full and on time.
Credit ratings can also speak to the credit quality of an individual debt issue, such as a corporate note, a municipal bond or a mortgage-backed security, and the relative likelihood that the issue may default.
Ratings are provided by organizations such as Standard & Poor’s, commonly called credit rating agencies, which specialize in evaluating credit risk.
Each agency applies its own methodology in measuring creditworthiness and uses a specific rating scale to publish its ratings opinions. Typically, ratings are expressed as letter grades that range, for example, from ‘AAA’ to ‘D’ to communicate the agency’s opinion of relative level of credit risk.

“…S&P revised its outlook on the United States’ AAA credit rating to negative from stable, citing the country’s deteriorating fiscal position. The shift reflects the rating agency’s belief that there is a one in three chance that the U.S. credit rating could be downgraded within two years.
Mohamed El-Erian, the co-chief investment officer at PIMCO, told Reuters Insider television that the S&P warning reflects the United States’ deteriorating standing in the global economy.
“The U.S. risks losing their AAA rating under our internal ratings,” El-Erian said. He added that the $1.2 trillion fund will continue to avoid long-term U.S. Treasuries, particularly at these “low” yield levels. Benchmark 10-year yields fell to 3.37 percent, marking the lowest since March 24. …”

A surprise warning about U.S. debt by credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s sent stocks plunging Monday and crystallized the threat that mounting federal budget deficits and national debt pose to the U.S. financial system and the American way of life.
“…S&P maintained the coveted AAA rating on U.S. government debt, but switched its outlook from stable to negative, a sign that the ratings agency has doubts about Washington’s prospects for taking effective action to curb deficits and debt.
“The negative outlook on our rating on the U.S. sovereign signals that we believe there is at least a one-in-three likelihood that we could lower our long-term rating on the U.S. within two years,” S&P analysts noted in their credit report. “The outlook reflects our view of the increased risk that the political negotiations over when and how to address both the medium- and long-term fiscal challenges will persist until at least after national elections in 2012.” …”
“…Question: What is Standard & Poor’s, and why does its opinion matter?
Answer: S&P is a nationally recognized statistical rating organization. It rates debt, in this case U.S. Treasury bonds, in terms of the risk of default they pose to investors in them. U.S. government securities have long enjoyed the top AAA rating but are now viewed as at risk for a downgrade of creditworthiness.
Q: Why would a downgrade affect borrowing costs in the economy?
A: The ratings issued by S&P and its main competitors – Moody’s Investors Service and Fitch Ratings – are used by investors to calculate what sort of return they should demand in exchange for the default risk they assume when investing in a given security. A lower rating means a higher chance of default.
The issuer, in this case the U.S. government, would have to pay a higher interest rate to investors to market its lower-rated bonds. Since the government must borrow to pay off existing debt, the cost of that would snowball into an even more costly fix for our fiscal problems. …”
S&P’s Credibility Under Fire As Agency Issues US Debt Warning
“…, just last week a Senate investigations subcommittee ripped Standard & Poor’s in a comprehensive report on the financial meltdown. The bipartisan report — issued by Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla. — in part blamed S&P for the crisis, saying the agency had inflated ratings on mortgage-backed securities for their own profit, only to later downgrade those ratings, destroying the value of the securities and contributing to the crisis.
“It was not in the short-term economic interest of either Moody’s or S&P, however, to provide accurate credit ratings for high-risk RMBS and CDO securities, because doing so would have hurt their own revenues,” Levin and Coburn said in their report. “Instead, the credit rating agencies’ profits became increasingly reliant on the fees generated by issuing a large volume of structured finance ratings.”
In short, the senators say, “Inaccurate AAA credit ratings introduced risk into the U.S. financial system and constituted a key cause of the financial crisis.”
The credibility of S&P is especially significant in the wake of the rating agency’s statement on Monday that it was starting to lose faith in the government’s creditworthiness. While S&P maintained its best-possible AAA rating for US federal debt, the firm lowered its outlook from “stable” to “negative.” The statement means the agency now thinks there is a one-in-three chance that it will reduce the rating of the bonds in the next few years. …”
“We view President Obama’s and Congressman Ryan’s proposals as the starting point of a process aimed at broader engagement, which could result in substantial and lasting U.S. government fiscal consolidation,” S&P noted. “That said, we see the path to agreement as challenging because the gap between the parties remains wide. We believe there is a significant risk that Congressional negotiations could result in no agreement on a medium-term fiscal strategy until after the fall 2012 Congressional and Presidential elections.”
