The official unemployment rate as measured by the Bureau of Labor Statistics U-3 series is expected to hit 10% in January 2011 with over 15 million Americans being unemployed.
The real unemployment rate as measured by the Bureau of Labor Statistics U-6 series will exceed 17% in January 2011 with over 26 million Americans seeking full time employment.
The official unemployment rate as measured by U-3 is not expected to be under 9% until the middle of 2012 at the earlest.
The Great Recession or Obama Depression continues and worsens.
This means the defeat of Barack Obama and the Democratic Party in the 2012 elections.
Inflation will hit the economy in both 2011 and 2012 with rising commodity prices.
Both food and energy prices are currently rising and clothing is next.
The Federal Reserve’s unconventional monetary policy of quantitative easing 2 will fail and the Federal Reserve must revert back to a conventional monetary policy of rising interest rates to stop inflation.

The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index® Dips in December

The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index®, which had improved in November, decreased slightly in December. The Index now stands at 52.5 (1985=100), down from 54.3 in November. The Present Situation Index declined to 23.5 from 25.4. The Expectations Index decreased to 71.9 from 73.6 last month.
The Consumer Confidence Survey® is based on a representative sample of 5,000 U.S. households. The monthly survey is conducted for The Conference Board by TNS. TNS is the world’s largest custom research company. The cutoff date for December’s preliminary results was December 20th.
Says Lynn Franco, Director of the Consumer Research Center at The Conference Board: “Despite this month’s modest decline, consumer confidence is no worse off today than it was a year ago. Consumers’ assessment of the current state of the economy and labor market remains tepid, and their outlook remains cautious. Thus, all signs continue to suggest that the economic expansion will continue well into 2011, but that the pace of growth will remain moderate.”
Consumers’ appraisal of present-day conditions was slightly more pessimistic than in November. The percentage of consumers claiming business conditions are “bad” decreased to 41.2 percent from 42.9 percent, however, those claiming business conditions are “good” declined to 7.5 percent from 8.5 percent. Consumers’ assessment of the labor market was less favorable than last month. Those saying jobs are “plentiful” decreased to 3.9 percent from 4.3 percent, while those stating jobs are “hard to get” edged up to 46.8 percent from 46.3 percent. …”
Consumer Confidence Shows Surprise Drop in December
“…The Conference Board, an industry group, said its index of consumer attitudes slipped to 52.5 in December from an upwardly revised 54.3 in November.
The median of forecasts from analysts polled by Reuters was for a reading of 56.0.
The expectations index declined to 71.9 in December from 73.6 in November.
The present situation index fell to 23.5 from 25.4.
Consumers’ labor market assessment worsened. The “jobs hard to get” index rose to 46.8 percent in December from 46.3 percent last month, while the “jobs plentiful” index dropped to 3.9 percent from 4.3 percent. …”

“…The airline pilot who lost his federally-issued gun and badge for posting video on YouTube critical of airport security has chosen to go public with his identity.
“My name is Chris Liu and I’m an airline pilot,” Liu said during an exclusive interview Monday with News10 at his home in Colfax.
Liu’s cell phone video tour of security at San Francisco International Airport led to a team of six federal agents and sheriff’s deputies coming to his home on Dec. 2 to take his handgun and Federal Flight Deck Officer (FFDO) credentials.
Liu’s state-issued permit to carry a concealed weapon was also suspended by the Placer County sheriff.
Liu contacted News10 last Tuesday to share his story, but insisted that neither he nor his airline be identified for fear of retaliation.
Liu decided to reveal his identity Monday because he wants to become actively involved in changing what he believes is a major flaw in airport security.
“I just found a disparity between what happens upstairs and what happens downstairs,” Liu explained. …”

Sacramento-area pilot punished for YouTube video
“…The 50-year-old pilot, who lives outside Sacramento, asked that neither he nor his airline be identified. He has worked for the airline for more than a decade and was deputized by the TSA to carry a gun in the cockpit.
He is also a helicopter test pilot in the Army Reserve and flew missions for the United Nations in Macedonia.
Three days after he posted a series of six video clips recorded with a cell phone camera at San Francisco International Airport, four federal air marshals and two sheriff’s deputies arrived at his house to confiscate his federally-issued firearm. The pilot recorded that event as well and provided all the video to News10.
At the same time as the federal marshals took the pilot’s gun, a deputy sheriff asked him to surrender his state-issued permit to carry a concealed weapon.
A follow-up letter from the sheriff’s department said the CCW permit would be reevaluated following the outcome of the federal investigation. …”

The Drudge Report started as a gossip column focusing on Hollywood and Washington, D.C.[9] Matt Drudge began the email-based newsletter called Report from an apartment in Hollywood, California, using his connections with industry and media insiders to break stories, sometimes before they hit the mainstream media. Drudge maintains the website from his home in Miami Beach, Florida, with help from Andrew Breitbart, who assists in story selection and headline writing.[10] Breitbart, who describes himself as “Matt Drudge’s bitch”,[11] works the afternoon shift at the Drudge Report,[12] as well as running his own website (breitbart.com), and another website (BigHollywood.com) providing a conservative perspective for people in the Los Angeles entertainment industry.[13]
Drudge, who began his website in 1997 as a supplement to his $10/year email newsletter,[14] received national attention in 1996 when he broke the news that Jack Kemp would be Republican Bob Dole’s running mate in the 1996 presidential election. In 1998, Drudge made national waves when he broke the news that Newsweek magazine had information on an inappropriate relationship between “a White House intern” and President Bill Clinton (the Monica Lewinsky scandal), but was withholding publication.[15][16][17] After Drudge’s report, Newsweek published the story.[18]

The Drudge Report site consists mainly of selected[19] hyperlinks to news websites all over the world, each link carrying a headline written by Drudge or his editors. The linked stories are generally hosted on the external websites of mainstream media outlets. It occasionally includes stories written by Drudge — usually two or three paragraphs in length. They generally concern a story about to be published in a major magazine or newspaper. Drudge occasionally publishes Nielsen, Arbitron, or BookScan ratings, or early election exit polls that are otherwise not made available to the public.
The site carries advertisements that generate the site’s revenue. The Drudge Report’s advertising is sold by Vienna, Virginia-based ad firm Intermarkets.[20]
In April, 2009, Associated Press announced that it would be examining the fair use doctrine used by sites like Google and Drudge Report to justify the use of AP content without payment.[21][22]
On May 4, 2009, the US Attorney General’s office issued a warning to employees in Massachusetts not to visit the Drudge Report and other sites because of malicious code contained in some of the advertising on the website.[23] In March, 2010, antivirus company Avast! warned that advertising at the Drudge Report, New York Times, Yahoo, Google, MySpace and other sites carried malware that could infect computers. “The most compromised ad delivery platforms were Yield Manager and Fimserve, but a number of smaller ad systems, including Myspace, were also found to be delivering malware on a lesser scale, Avast Virus Labs said.”[24]

Water: How much should you drink every day?
Water is essential to good health, yet needs vary by individual. These guidelines can help ensure you drink enough fluids.

“…So how much water does the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate need? In general, doctors recommend 8 or 9 cups. Here are the most common ways of calculating that amount:
- Replacement approach. The average urine output for adults is about 1.5 liters (6.3 cups) a day. You lose close to an additional liter (about 4 cups) of water a day through breathing, sweating and bowel movements. Food usually accounts for 20 percent of your total fluid intake, so if you consume 2 liters of water or other beverages a day (a little more than 8 cups) along with your normal diet, you will typically replace your lost fluids.
- Eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. Another approach to water intake is the “8 x 8 rule” — drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day (about 1.9 liters). The rule could also be stated, “Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of fluid a day,” as all fluids count toward the daily total. Although the approach really isn’t supported by scientific evidence, many people use this easy-to-remember rule as a guideline for how much water and other fluids to drink.
- Dietary recommendations. The Institute of Medicine advises that men consume roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day and women consume 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.
Even apart from the above approaches, if you drink enough fluid so that you rarely feel thirsty and produce 1.5 liters (6.3 cups) or more of colorless or slightly yellow urine a day, your fluid intake is probably adequate. If you’re concerned about your fluid intake, check with your doctor or a registered dietitian. He or she can help you determine the amount of water that’s best for you. …”

Drink Water to Lose Weight and Burn Fat?
“…The most common recommendation It is commonly recommended that people drink between 8 and 10 glasses of water per day. This is a good starting point. The question is, how big is that glass?
The answer is that it depends. As with most things, the more you weigh, the more water you need.
In order to lose weight, every day you should consume between 0.5 and 0.64 ounces of water per pound of lean body weight.
Therefore, if you are going to drink 0.64 ounces of water per pound of lean body mass, use the following formula:
Lean Body Mass x 0.64 = Optimal Water Intake in Ounces
As you can see, a person that has 200 pounds of lean body mass should drink 128 ounces, or 1 gallon, of water. This equals 8 16 ounce glasses of water.
The table below will help you estimate the amount of water you should aim for every day to help weight loss, and how many 16 ounce glasses per day that amount equals.

“…Consumers for the first time got federally approved rules guaranteeing their right to view what they want on the Internet. The new framework could also result in tiered charges for web access and alter how companies profit from the network.
The Federal Communications Commission on Tuesday voted 3-2 to back Chairman Julius Genachowski’s plan for what is commonly known as “net neutrality,” or rules prohibiting Internet providers from interfering with legal web traffic. President Barack Obama said the FCC’s action will “help preserve the free and open nature of the Internet.”
The move was prompted by worries that large phone and cable firms were getting too powerful as Internet gatekeepers.
Most consumers haven’t had a problem viewing whatever they want online; few instances have arisen of an Internet provider blocking or slowing services.
Rather, the FCC rules are designed to prevent potential future harms and they could shape how Americans access and use the Internet years from now. In the future, the Internet industry will be increasingly centered around the fastest-growing categories of Internet traffic—online video, gaming and mobile services, analysts say. Cisco Systems Inc., the broadband network provider, has forecast those services could quadruple by 2014. …”

“…RT, previously known as Russia Today, is a global multilingual television news network based in Russia. RT was the first all-digital Russian TV network.[1] The service is aimed at the overseas market, similar to DW-TV, France 24 and NHK World, and broadcast through satellite and cable operators throughout the world.
The network, which cost about $30 million in 2005 to set up and $60 million for its first year of operation,[2] started broadcasting on Dec. 10, 2005 with nearly 100 English-speaking journalists reporting for it worldwide.[2][3] RT broadcasts from its headquarters in Moscow and its studio in Washington, DC. It also has bureaus in Miami, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Delhi and Tel Aviv. RT is available in over 100 countries spread over five continents via cable, satellite, and online streaming free from the RT website. There are brief commercials, usually 15 seconds each totaling no more than four minutes per hour and scheduled two blocks per hour of one to three minutes each promoting the network.[4] In addition to the Moscow-based flagship RT English-language broadcast, RT also runs RT Arabic, RT America, and Actualidad RT in Spanish. RT shows round the clock news bulletins, documentaries, talk shows, and debates, as well as sports news and cultural programs on Russia. It is available on its website in English at rt.com.

“…The Centre for Investigative Journalism (CIJ), is a non-profit organisation providing training to journalists, researchers, producers and students in the practice and methodology of investigative journalism. Founded in 2003, using grants from the Lorana Sullivan Foundation, the Centre organises annual three-day summer schools, and has provided training to hundreds of journalists, researchers and students from over 30 countries[1]. CIJ is based at the Department of Journalism at City University, in London [2].
The Centre supports and encourages Freedom of Information [3], Computer Assisted Reporting [4], and the protection of whistleblowers [5]. In 2007 the CIJ acquired registered charity status and attracted support from a number of foundations including the Open Society Institute, The David & Elaine Potter Foundation, the Ford Foundation, Park Foundation, City University London and several smaller private trusts.
In 2009, the CIJ has been instrumental in helping found the Bureau for Investigative Journalism [9], an independent, foundation-supported producer of in-depth reporting in defence of the public interest. …”
