This is a “Progressive Future”? Obama Organizers Homeless in Denver?

“I realize that Colorado is considered a battleground state, but there seems to be some kind of movement by a group called “Progressive Future” to get people to move to Denver to go door-to-door and get out the vote. I probably would not mind in general, at their attempts, but most of these postings are requesting free or reduced rent “to show our support for the campaign. The hours that these volunteers are also saying that they would work in their advertisements also seem a bit, well, cultish. In some ways, it reminds me of those horror stories about kids recruited to sell magazines and forced to live in vans as they travel from state-to-state. The group that seems behind this movement is called “Progressive Future”. Is this the kind of grass roots campaign that Obama endorses?

Company promises to pay Roanoke employees who helped register voters

“…According to its website, the company known as both Progressive Future and Work for Progress promises to deliver change.  Now it’s also promising to deliver paychecks.

“We mailed them their checks on Monday,” Brad Martin, a company representative, said.

We first spoke with Amber Phelps and two other employees Monday. 

Tuesday, Phelps said she still had not received her check, nor had she heard from the company.

“Checks are something I depend on.  I’m a college student.  Finding jobs especially now isn’t easy,” Phelps said.

Since Monday, we have talked to two more employees who are also waiting for their money.  An investigator at the Roanoke City Police Department says he has heard of at least 20 people who are waiting for their paychecks. …”

Voter Fraud Watch: Could ACORN Scandal in Washington Have Been Avoided With Photo ID?

“…The Supreme Court ruling earlier this week that allows states to require voters to produce photo I.D.s is drawing criticism from voter registration groups, including one that was busted for election fraud in 2006. 

ACORN is trying to register one million new voters this year and brands the decision, “One more strike against the basic right to vote … that further disenfranchises people of color and low income Americans.” 

But if photo I.D. requirements had been the law in Washington state, the voter fraud scandal involving ACORN in 2006 would never have happened. According to Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed, the incident “was the worst case of election fraud in our state’s history. It was an outrage.” 

Two years ago ACORN submitted just over 1,800 new voter registration forms, but there was a problem. The names were made up — all but six of the 1,800 submissions were fakes. Reed said he was appalled. 

“There is nothing more fundamental to a democratic republic and to a citizen of the United States than participating in selecting your public officials. For people to undermine that and try to perpetuate fraud on the system is an outrage,” he said.

The ACORN workers told state investigators that they went to the Seattle public library, sat at a table and filled out the voter registration forms. They made up names, addresses, and Social Security numbers and in some cases plucked names from the phone book. One worker said it was a lot of hard work making up all those names and another said he would sit at home, smoke marijuana and fill out the forms. …”

Community organizers, phony voters, and your tax dollars.

“…Which brings us to Mr. Obama, who got his start as a Chicago “community organizer” at Acorn’s side. In 1992 he led voter registration efforts as the director of Project Vote, which included Acorn. This past November, he lauded Acorn’s leaders for being “smack dab in the middle” of that effort. Mr. Obama also served as a lawyer for Acorn in 1995, in a case against Illinois to increase access to the polls.

During his tenure on the board of Chicago’s Woods Fund, that body funneled more than $200,000 to Acorn. More recently, the Obama campaign paid $832,000 to an Acorn affiliate. The campaign initially told the Federal Election Commission this money was for “staging, sound, lighting.” It later admitted the cash was to get out the vote.

The Obama campaign is now distancing itself from Acorn, claiming Mr. Obama never organized with it and has nothing to do with illegal voter registration. Yet it’s disingenuous to channel cash into an operation with a history of fraud and then claim you’re shocked to discover reports of fraud. As with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers, Mr. Obama was happy to associate with Acorn when it suited his purposes. But now that he’s on the brink of the Presidency, he wants to disavow his ties.

The Justice Department needs to treat these fraud reports as something larger than a few local violators. The question is whether Acorn is systematically subverting U.S. election law — on the taxpayer’s dime.”
